My predictions for quarters – Argentina, Ireland, Fiji and France to win

I'd be pretty happy with that too

I was rewatching the Ireland-France 6 nations game last night, what a cracker of a game. I'm amazed every time I see the Dupont tackle on Hansen to stop him going over  the line for a try.

Instagram has all the England team doing tackle practise under a limbo type arrangement piece of string.

they should have been doing that for years - not training to smother tackle

Why do some rugby tams have nicknames and others not?  Many of them are tough sounding nicknames until you get to the "brave blossoms" 🙂  Pumas - now thats good.  Springbok?  Its a stupid little gazzelle ie lion food.  None of the home nations really have one.  So what should your countries be?  The Scottish "Bawbags" ?

In 2003 England were described as 'orcs on steroids'.
Bit of a mouthful for a nickname.

It seems it's only Scotland and Ireland that don't have nicknames. Most are just named after what ever is on their shirt badge or national animal.

The excitement is getting a bit too much for me already 😀.

Four games that are too close to call.

I feel like Wales have a 51% chance of winning, but it could easily be Argentina.

Ireland should beat New Zealand. That is probably the easiest game to call. Their consistency, their recent long winning run, including the Grand Slam and Tour win in NZ - all bode well. NZ have shown that they can win when on top, but have also shown they can be beaten.

Sunday, I'm going to go for England and France. I'd like Fiji to do well, but it would be really good to see an all Northern Hemisphere semi-finals.

So, backing my prediction of Argentina, Ireland, Fiji and France I've just had a punt at 33/1.
If you swapped out France for SA...40/1.

They seem like decent odds. I'm surprised, not being a gambler, I wouldn't have expected you to get such favourable odds.

What odds could I get on an England v Wales final? 😜

Still waiting to see if Liam pulls out 5mins before kick off.

Wales should win but then could very easily lose too.

Scotland have a very favourable lineup for 2024 6 nations:

1: Wales v Scotland
2: Scotland v France
3: Scotland v England
4: Italy v Scotland
5: Ireland v Scotland

I can't wait to hear their excuse for only winning 1 or 2 games.

😉

Pretty sure that was a no arms shoulder charge - still not a yellow though so a bit academic

Since when was that a wrap when both arms were by his side?!

Ref is a bit iffy as he said didn't see it but it seems like he was looking straight at it!

Argentinian ran into him after the whistle then went down like he'd been shot!! Pen seems about right to me. If he'd binned Adam's he'd have to have looked at the afters from Argentinians running in from miles away!

Doesn't look like it to me. Wales messing it up, handling errors, 4 lineouts given away.

Oh well, it was good while it lasted. Quarter finals and played decently. Arguably the better team in many ways - unfortunately not the one that matters most.

In hindsight, it went a bit tits up after I commented.   It felt pretty even until then, and a very close score.

Completely accidental and unavoidable contact and the tackler did nothing wrong.  Dickson explained it well.

But they won't be alone on the flight home. Ingurlund will be  heading back to Blighty after tomorrow evening too.

Can you explain how it was unavoidable? Cannot see that. He didn't need to hit him in the head. It's mystifying.

Feel very sorry for Wales and Welsh friends who will be gutted just now. Only plus point is that Gatland is an obnoxious human being that I love to see losing.

I suggest you watch the video again with your other eye open?  Perhaps read the laws and protocols? I called it as accidental contact when first made.

As the Argentinian was only a very short distance away tompkins dropped significantly.   There was nothing the tackler could do to avoid it.  Not all head contact is foul play.

Accidental doesn't make any difference, I suggest you read the protocols

There was nothing the tackler could do to avoid it.

He could have avoided it by not entering the ruck. Simples

Gutted for Wales but they just couldn’t get it going today. Those missed line outs really cost them after the first try.  They really swung the momentum of the game.

The AB's are rolling around all over the place in the rucks, got to be deliberate and pretending to be falling over just to disrupt.  As always, on the edge of cheating.

Ireland and New Zealand play a different sport to the rubbish that England currently dish up (and I say that as an England supporter).

Doesnt seem right that England could go further in the tournament than either of these teams.
