Question – LRZ played 2 or 3 games for the Lions, but none of them were tests against SA, do they count as Lions caps or not?
No, only tests count.
Glazzer are my English team, Exeter were there for the taking. On LRZ,he is about 14 and hasn't had a break for 2 years, at one point he got the ball in space and burnt his oppo off effortlessly. Fantastic player, needs to be better looked after in my opinion.
I would love to see LRZ develop into a 15. Classy player.
Right, well, very good Scotland, now please excuse me whilst I get pissed!!
@aa I started in the second half of the scotland game to ensure I only have fuzzy memories of what is about to happen. Good to see Matt Damon back at 10 and perennial lump of granite get his 149
100 caps for Beuuden Barrett too!!
And a full millennium! Win or lose today (lose), cardiff will be bouncing. Would of loved to been there for obligatory pre-natch 2pinter in the vaults
Worthwhile game to get the two Saffers Cup tied. Now I can watch the Welsh game as a neutral. AA; from the dark days of following Scotland, may I recommend 2 fingers of beer for every point scored? That should see you naked in the wreckage of your kitchen with only the swat team hostage negotiator for company by half time.
Wales win the singing, let's leave it there shall we?
Taking up TJ’s usual position of behind the sofa.
Help!
Singing and best atmosphere in the stadium
Time to move the sofa forward to make room
Yellow no? Cover looked less than 50/50
Ref and tmo have a hard on for nz
yup as a neutral even I think this.
Moriarty needs too cool his jets otherwise he’s going to be on the radar and get pinged. And yes, as a non neutral, but like to think rational, the reff does seem harsh
Moriarty needs too cool his jets
You have clearly never seen or the rest of his family play 😆😆
Elias is a useless prick
You have clearly never seen or the rest of his family play
Like father like son
Oh look Wayne a backrow is injured who comes on now...moron
Moriarty needs too cool his jets
Multi-skilled tho..only yesterday he* was servicing my Land Rover.
* well, he owns the garage that serviced it
Wales really need to sort set piece out. 3 own line-outs in a row lost (almost 4) and two pens on own scrum in succession
How do we keep spaffing line outs? Same I. The 6N, same in last years AI. You can literally practice them all day long
Red card, watch it end up with Moriarty sent off
Neither AB used arms
That's a red card
Someone shoot Elias in the knee at half time!
Neither AB used arms
Exactly, the mitigation was from foul play as Jiffy not so Junior pouted out!
I think yellow was right, but could of gone either way
NZ really are getting the rub of the green.
Lead up to the second try was 2x forward passes and a side entry at the ruck.
Black 6 & 3 tackle on Moriarty, neither used their arms. Only slight mitigation was Moriarty led with his head.
Wales would be in this if their set price wasn't such a shambles
I'm still hopeful...
A very frustrating half. Some iffy reffing (although still think yellow was correct), jizzing it up the wall when we do have pressure and injuries that on the surface look like they won’t be turned around for the boks. That’s almost a line in Wales fan bingo!
Pure class that one!
Elias still a prick
Thank **** he's off
And now we’re into to full bore spanking territory
It doesn’t matter how many points Wales score, it might look doable at about 60-65 minutes, but then NZ will score a shit load.
Wales 23 v NZ 48
Edited at 78:30 - scratch that!
Well Basham and Wainwright showed up well. Anscombe was clearly not up to speed should never have been picked. Fair play McNicol wasn't anywhere near as bad as I feared.
Looks like we are moving into life without AWJ...😥
Watching it slightly behind....that AB try for 40 😍
Anscombe was clearly not up to speed should never have been picked.
Whilst not up to speed, who else would you of picked at starting 10 who was available? Priestland seemed to do ok mind (much ax it pains me to say it) given a 5 year break from the jersey
NZ are just on another level.
Whenever they are under pressure they relieve it by going and scoring where other teams will look to clear their lines and regroup. Their pre-game plan is to 40+ points but they’re not happy until they score 50+.
Hats off to them, they deservedly are the best in the world.
Agreed, thankfully it gets a bit easier for the plucky but injury depleted Welsh next week....oh wait.😟
who else would you of picked at starting 10 who was available?
Jarrod Evans or Priestland. Picking a guy who has played 4 games in two years was beyond stupid.
Can any ref experts tell me the last time you have seen a ref ping someone for offside when a 10 has kicked the ball into row z from a penalty?

I thought this was mad too.
As was the refs insistence on playing really long advantage for wales, only for AB's to infringe at 5m line and then bring wales back to the original offence every time, somewhere near half way. It felt like a great way to knacker the welsh out and make sure they never scored.
Don't get me wrong, I'm english and like to see the welsh beaten, but the reffing was quite glaring.
Plus as AA said the Moriarty thing was mad, both tacklers clearly offended and he used one to mitgate the other.
Oh and the catching in the air, yeah he missed the ball so what, AB clearly tackled him in the air.
And the deliberate knock on, as Desperate Dan said, we see yellows like that every day, why wasn't this a yellow?
I am no conspiracy theorist but sometimes I really think there is something dodgy going on.
What can Scotland take from that? Tonga did not put up a lot of resistance.
kinghorn looked competent and comfortable at 10 but had an armchair ride. Graham (be still my beating heart) and Mclean looked lively and made good runs. Nice to see Harley get another cap but he must be about 6th choice in the second row. Every team needs a ginger tackle monster.
There are tougher games to come and players to return but thats a few guys got their first caps with a comfortable win.

Pretty sure Evans is still injured, and given that we were without Biggs, sheedy, Lloyd or Evans either through injury or unavailability and priestland was there to make up the numbers, why not give anscombe a starting run out. Priestland hasn’t played for Wales for 4 years iirc so has no future in the jersey, whereas anscombe does and clearly needed the game time.although, to be fair, we did play better when priestland took over at fly half. I also wonder where Patchell was or why not considered
This meme sums it up..

Blackadder is legal, he is moving his arm to wrap and his contact is outside arm and then sliding across his ribs ;Moriatey actually beats him but for the second tackle. Prop would have been a red but for the mitigation that Refs factor in for every single decision like this.

Evans played last week. Anscombe was well off the pace and shouldn't have been picked Priestland is playing well, he's not the future but would have been better than Anscombe. Patchel has concussion issues still, hasn't played in ages.
Patchel has concussion issues still, hasn’t played in ages.
I thought he was over those, clearly not which is a great shame.
The commentary did point out the real difference. ABs will let you go coast to coast and rely on a defensive line in the middle and an infringement in the 5m channel, it's becoming really obvious that when beaten they will kill the play illegally and in the main cleverly. BB only a penalty because the defence swinging into place behind him.
TJP looked like he was on some proper good drugs all through the game.
@tjagain just watched glaws Exeter. Hastings was average he had moments where he panicked either with too little time or two many options. His comms with 9 and 12 need to be better, just not clicked yet.
Ta
In all fairness that is the first time he has been off, and I am not really a fan. He has looked absolutely brilliant at times.
Did have a couple of sublime moments to be fair.
Kinghorn would have been his equal this weekend.
Hastings was average he had moments where he panicked either with too little time or two many options.
Agreed, he did have a shit game. I thought the game was held together by 36, Chris Harris (who was excellent and has that Hensonesque quality of retaining his haircut for the whole game) Santiago Cerrrreeweeaaa, and some of the forwards, Singleton, Morgan and a 2nd row who I don't know. Meehan was pretty good too. Woodward put in a try saver on the Exeter Scottish forward. Glos looked so complete for many aspects of the game. was peeved to see them lose in the end.
Quite annoying to hear commentators saying so and so is away with England when there's 4 or 5 other nation's internationals on the pitch not being released.

He tends to do this IMO - I don't rate him.

I dunno how to solve this, England RFU has deals with Prem clubs, but only selects from England. The Scottish and Welsh unions need to find a way to leverage their players so the English clubs will release them, Prem clubs get nothing from WRU and SRU so why would they give up players?
Is it better for Welsh and Scottish rugby to have players in england? I dunno, but its better for the players income.
also doesnt the WRU have some central contracting thing? Does that work?
Had the privilege of sitting behind the posts in the NZ end with Mrs TiRed. Was a great exhibition. Wales couldn't hold on to their Line outs. NZ didn't lose one. Two interception tries on your hundredth cap. And that fifth try. Just class. Son1, who plays to a high standard called it as the best try he's ever seen. OK it was viewed from a distance! 😂
Nice Birthday outing, and she's still buzzing.

Apologies for the 2x zoom and 10x digital on the iPhone 8+
Prem clubs get nothing from WRU and SRU so why would they give up players?
Not always, SRU paid for the release of the PRL players and Finn for the France game which fell out of the window because of Covid, we also paid up a couple of W/C cycles ago to get release for training camps. I assume the Welsh are the same. I would imagine the SRU have an eye watering insurance premium for the "foreign" based players though.
I have no issue at all with English clubs not releasing Scottish players out of the window for games like Saturday. At the end of the day they are paying Scottish players significantly enhanced wages compared to the SRU in what is a short career. They are also exposing them to a far higher standard of competition than the diddy league up here. Crack on the Premiership!
The PRL basically extorted the RFU over player release. To make it stick the premiership clubs are not allowed to release the scots and welsh players without eye watering sums being paid.
It benefits those players and overall the scots team to have the stars playing down south. Everyone knows the score over international release.
Worrying consensus going on here.
Meanwhile I'm concered no one mentioned England beat the crap out of NZ this weekend. 43-12.
It was the Red Roses Vs Black Ferns and a thriller by all accounts.
They are also exposing them to a far higher standard of competition than the diddy league up here. Crack on the Premiership!
Doesn't appear to hold back Leinster and Munster etc. I also don't see masses of Welsh players improving after time away in England.
Talking of which its rumoured Falatau is going to Cardiff at end of season, wonder if he'll play before then?
Hasn't even trained with Bath yet this season because of injury. Clever, clever player; I hope he gets back.
Teej; notice you are staying quiet about your wee pals performance at 15 on Sat 😃
Decent going forward - in fact more than decent. Got bumped off a few tackles
Doesn’t appear to hold back Leinster and Munster etc.
The level of set up those teams have is way beyond anything Glasgow or Edinburgh or the Welsh teams have. Connacht is a better comparison; certainly to our teams. They are both able to limit the games marquee players have to play while still able to afford All Blacks. For example, according to wiki POC played 178 times for Munster between 2001-15. Al Kellock played 214 games in a year less.
South Africa: Damian Willemse; Jesse Kriel, Lukhanyo Am, Damian de Allende, Makazole Mapimpi; Handre Pollard, Herschel Jantjies; Ox Nche, Bongi Mbonambi, Trevor Nyakane, Eben Etzebeth, Lood De Jager, Siya Kolisi (capt), Kwagga Smith, Duane Vermeulen.
Replacements: Malcolm Marx, Steven Kitshoff, Vincent Koch, Franco Mostert, Jasper Wiese, Cobus Reinach, Elton Jantjies, Frans Steyn
The Welsh pack are likely to be breaking landspeed records in reverse this weekend!

I agree, but the point stands you shouldn't need to send players away to improve them.
I think the biggest strength the Irish have is the quality of coaching though,at all levels. Although this does undermine my point!!
Got bumped off a few tackles
😆😆😆😆😆😆😁😁😁😆😆
My nan would have looked good going forward v that lot!
Teej cough..high balls..cough.
Seen Maitland play this season Teej? Add in DvDM and both wings from Sat and Darcey will be sitting in the West Stand with Gav Henson discussing restraining orders on overly "keen" fans.
AWJ out for the season and England have rather carelessly broken their first choice scrum half in their training camp. Paddleboarding not judo this time, so that's fine.
Broken Smith at 10 possibly. That'll let Jones play Farrell.
And we've got a broken Suzz.
Wales (probable):
J McNicholl (Scarlets); L Rees-Zammit (Gloucester), N Tompkins (Saracens), J Davies (Scarlets), J Adams (Cardiff); D Biggar (Northampton), T Williams (Cardiff); R Carre (Cardiff), R Elias (Scarlets), T Francis (Ospreys); A Beard (Ospreys)/S Davies (Cardiff)/ B Carter (Dragons), W Rowlands (Dragons); E Jenkins (Cardiff), T Basham (Dragons), A Wainwright (Dragons).
I think even with 4 locks our pack will struggle!
NIce interview with the Welsh pretty boy 🙂

I kind of agree with him, but then I always want to see more Rugby. I was disspointed in Gats as he made Wales sing at times (the steam, metaphorically, not the choir actually, although that was a side effect). For me the three tests looked a lot like England, which was not anywhere near as much fun.. England lost to SA the year before by playing them at their own game, surely we can all see it is not a good idea.
Wales: Johnny McNicholl; Louis Rees-Zammit, Jonathan Davies (capt), Nick Tompkins, Josh Adams; Dan Biggar, Tomos Williams; Rhys Carre, Ryan Elias, Tomas Francis, Will Rowlands, Adam Beard, Ellis Jenkins, Taine Basham, Aaron Wainwright.
Replacements: Bradley Roberts, Wyn Jones, WillGriff John, Ben Carter, Seb Davies, Gareth Davies, Gareth Anscombe, Liam Williams
****ing Elias!!
Tompkins isn't up to it physically, Carre is shit. Griff John has been shit for Scarlets and Seb ****ing Davies as backrow cover again, **** me how stupid.
And who the **** is Bradley Roberts, that's a rhetorical question, I don't actually care.
More interesting than you might imagine, given how the game went:
