Hastings was alright but doesn't see the game like a class 10. He panicked a few times and forced stuff. He might grow into it.

Hogg was the passenger in a car that crashed killing his best mate, also a passenger when they were 17. But you crack on.

Anyway, enough of the purile Micky taking.

So, today.  My opinions changed, I think England will take this 20-14.   Close because of the Stade Francais effect, but I think we'll be hammering the French with a bit of shock and awe in the first 20, and they'll come back in the second half.

Decisive win for Wales but it was what should be thier easiest game, and whilst they had moments they looked great, there were moments of disorientation too..

Not sure I fancy thier chances with Ireland and England being away games.

Err no, the purile Mickey taking is the reason most of us are here and anyway;that's a bit rich coming from you bearing in mind the bile you spout at least once a 6N after things don't go right for you.

Women's Scotland Ireland game is pretty fun to watch. I know England ladies are strongest team but Scot and ire playing better rugby. Wish greenwood would stop calling them "girls"

Same here. Wales won easily but have a lot to work on.

Meanwhile on TV I think Hartley is about to **** Castanade....

Wales came back last year and it was still said they played badly, so there’s plenty of time for England yet, surely.

Actually the reason is take away the dynamic carriers in Vunipola x2 and Tuilagi they have very little in attack.

France doing some classic attacking without the ball. They don't have possession but the ball travels 20m back in ten phases.

Good point about how limited England are without the big carriers.

Just too slow at everything but in particular at the breakdown.

Although May a bit quicker.

Am I right in thinking France have a tendency to get a big leggy later on? Could be an interesting 15 mins.....

Is it time for all the French props to simultaneously pull a muscle....

Bollocks.  Very much outplayed, too much one on one and no attacking penetration.   Really missed a no 8, I wonder if EJ will call up Dombrant now.  Sean Edwards definitely having an impact.

What a shower of shit from England.

Eddie is so pig headed...our best number eight gets injured so rather than all up on of four players who actually play in that position, he plays a seven there.

Why he continues to pick Youngs is beyond me; he’s shit and playing for a piss poor Leicester tea. We appear to have carried our insipid WC final form on.

I doubt the Sarries players are a positive either; with then being relegated and certain people named publicly their heads can’t be in the best place. Scotland will be kicking their lips about facing us next week.

France looked good; good in attack and good defensively. They didn’t get bored half way through and stop playing like they sued to before.

Well, where to start.

At the start of a new WC cycle why are we carrying on with 2 slow old 9s instead of giving opportunities to the younger ones.

Add to that the refusal to pick a proper 8, the only option from a scrum is now a pass - too slow at 9 & no 8 to carry.

Play your 5 at 6, and 6 at 8, you lose both Curry’s speed to the breakdown and the carrying threat.

We had no attacking shape at all. 1 out, bosh. All game.

Owens needs to ref the offside line. He allowed France a 2 metre head start every time - France (Edwards) we’re savvy enough to pick up on it.

T-MO had a shocker.
Cowan Dickie should have seen a Red -shocking late shoulder to the neck/head.

That French try was a clear knock on,as well as both chasers in front of the kicker.

Didn’t even check the grounding of Kruis. Looked good live, and the fact the French TV director didn’t show replays suggests something!!

I’m actually glad the French are starting to play well (deja vu??) though. Good for the game.

The french TV channels are bastards for that though. It’s the same in the European games; any dodgy French play or opposition scores are never shown again.

We had no attacking shape at all. 1 out, bosh. All game.

Yet this remains an issue.   After we all saw it happening, it didn't change.  One out forwards, slow(er) to the breakdown and toothless backs - aside from May who at least tried to do something different.   Why not put Farrell back at 10 - who was hopeless as a 12 - and get Devoto on for a start?  At least its something.

In front of the kicker or not (yes they were) ball touched by white in flight so all blues onside.

I think the suggestion was that blue knocked it onto white first. It’s academic though, try given and England didn’t deserve to win.

Hastings was alright but doesn’t see the game like a class 10. He panicked a few times and forced stuff. He might grow into it.

He did better than I thought he was going to. HOgg and kinghorn doing the kicks from hand and clearing kicks takes some pressure off and they played a limited version of the usual madcap attacking. I half expected Hastings to have a 'mare but He did ok

How many chances did we miss? Typically Scottish loss. Nothing to scare me from England however.

Nope, we were abysmal. Scotland will be favourites. Whilst they were wasteful yesterday, at least there was a clear game plan.

No doubt Eddie will continue to be pig headed, picking players out of position and those like Youngs who is so out of form. Based on today, I reckon will be fifth. We’ll beat Italy and that will be about it.

Eddie’s stupid comments look particularly stupid right now. Last year he kept his mouth shut before the Ireland and we played well.

It was not the best I have seen from the men in white 😉

Ford / Farrell does not work how many times does eddie need to try it? They desperately needed a big running 8 today as well so something wrong in selection there, apart from a couple of bits of great running from May they really offered nothing in attack.

England got rattled by going behind then being pinned back in defense. Scrum was solid. good lineout steals

France were very disciplined in defense and their 9 had a great game. They looked very fast and dangerous ball in hand - something great to see

This is going to be an interesting six Nations, couldn't really say who I fancied to win this year. After the first weekend it definitely seems more level than it often is.

Slight understatement there! It was ****ing awful.

Farrell was rubbish today, but all of the Sarries bits were; George was ropey, Itoje quiet, Daly pretty useless etc. The whole salary cap scandal is affecting them; they’ll be pondering their future next season etc and it must e a devise issue amongst the other players.

I can’t believe that Eddie thought Ewels (who is bobbins) is an international lock, whilst moving Lawes to six when he has players who actually play there at his disposal. Curry was all at sea at eight...he simply isn’t a better option than Dombrandt, Hughes, Curry or Morgan, you know huts who play eight every bloody week.

Youngs was dire today. He didn’t look like a nine with 96 caps. 96 caps. How?

It’s fair to say, the Calcutta cup isn’t going anywhere!

I have tickets for France / Scotland. could be a cracker of a game.

I think my money is on Ireland to win the 6N going on this weekends performance

That was a titanic battle as POM said in his interview. I thought both back rows were outstanding. gray the tackling machine. Watson was everywhere. Two great steals from Ireland won them the game in the end, Bastards!

Ireland need to keep Sexton fit.

I think a France will make a pretty good impression on the 6N this year. They actually looked like a team today...and they kept on playing.

Don’t forget Hogg’s howler...😉

Im looking forward to the Wales v France match. A Wales who want to play rugby against a France side with some structure. The winners come from this match IMHO.

Indeed, and Scotland fans (well maybe just the one) lose to Ireland and Ireland are going to win the 6 nations. Scotland v England could easily go either way. I think Akita has it, there’s not much in the teams - they can all play well and they can all play poorly. Wales are probably the most consistent team, but they have weaknesses and it may not be enough to win their way games.

I loved the look on Hartley, Johnson and Guscott’s faces at the end of the programme, when inverdale said (something like) ...” there’s been a grand slam after each of the previous world cups. We now know that maybe Ireland or Wales or of course France could win one, but we do know it certainly won’t be England” 😂

I was lead to believe England stick with Ben Youngs as there is no-one better available at the moment. Is there anyone people think E Jones should consider?

Can’t believe anyone thinks Ireland can win the 6N. 😂

Shite 2019 6N. Shiter RWC2019. A one score victory against a Russell-less, ball-dropping Scotland. Potential 2020 6N champs? Lolz.

Ireland are currently transitioning towards being excellent in 2021 and maybe a GS in 2022, following victories over all Southern Hemisphere teams and a 37 match unbeaten run before getting knocked out in the QFs of RWC2023 following a close loss to Uruguay in the group stages.

The best English 9 in the Premiership is Robson and has been for years. Young’s has lost any pace and no longer has the ability to make a break round the fringe.

There are also too many overseas 9s.

Simpson has been going pretty well for Gloucester this season too. Spencer is better too (although I don’t want to many Sarries players at the mo).

Maunder seems to have fallen sway a bit after promise.

Russell isn’t going to be playing at the weekend! Big move by Townsend, he’s clearly got faith in Hastings / Weir or he really really wants to make an example out of Russell.

Jones has retained 35 players which still includes no specialist number eight and Youngs looks to be in line for yet another cap. Jesus Christ, Eddie can be a stubborn sod.

Yup, if Eddie was willing to swallow his pride and admit that he got the selection badly wrong, then he could draft in a proper eight. It’ll be interesting to see if he swaps out Manu and Watson if they don’t recover. We’ll know how broken Manu is tomorrow. The danger I’d though, that he’ll be picked even if he’s carrying something such is his importance to getting us over the gain line.

Just seen the post match Press conf. Apparently Currie at 8 is a long term project and Eddie thinks he will be a great 8 in time!

WTF???

He’s a great 6 now, so leave him there and pick someone who’s a great 8 already & make them better!!

This is Eddie’s biggest problem; he’s a stubborn, pigheaded f*cker incapable of admitting when he’s wrong. Curry will never be a top eight.

Team for the future apparently, we aren't worried about single game results, despite the rhetoric prior to the match of "I'm not worried about the future I'm field a team for this game ahead of us..."

So England have successfully show everyone else how France have improved and how shit & toothless our players are.   You have to watch the U20's running lines to appreciate support & good rugby instead of this 1 on 1 business.
