Firstly, North aint slow

Errrmmmmmmm - he is so there. Like an oil tanker turning as well.

You will see some proper speed on the wings on Saturday - especially When Duhan comes on but all 3 of our wingers in the squad have real pace. Shame they will not see the ball with the centres picked

I thought one was Kinghorn? He's a good player but not scary fast.

Kinghorn is the slowest. One of those deceptive guys like Guscott tho - does not look to be moving fast even when he is. Graham and VDM are really pacy. IIRC VDM is a 10.3 100m man

Yeah right! Nigel Walker wasnt that fast and he was an olympic 110m hurdler before rugby!

Mentions North even though he is slow.

Its something I would love to see is some stats on speed. I cannot find the quote on VDM now so maybe I imagined it but he is proper fast.

I did - its interesting but hardly comprehensive. I'd love to know how fast all the players are - for example I saw McInally take 3 m in 40 out of Owen Farrell but was that Farrells real top speed? I also saw Jonny Gray caught in 20 m with a 5 m start - and yes he probably was at top speed

Here are some stats for you ( Ok he was not playing internationals so played every game but.........)

According to Opta’s statistics, since his debut for Edinburgh, “Van der Merwe is the top-ranking player in the Pro14 for tries (24), metres (2673), clean breaks (73) and defenders beaten (199)”.

Was that by someone coming back from the bar, with a pint in each hand? 😂😂

I was looking forward to Tips v Watson - lions sevens?

How the breakdown is reffed will be key - scotland will be going for turnovers.

Scrums - my bet is wales bugger about a lot. I hope the ref picks up on the early shove / soft hit, general buggering about. Otherwise scums could well go badly for Scotland

That speed stats link has Kieran Marmion quicker than all the wingers, just the NFL lad quicker.
🙂
And the legend Stephen Ferris was right up there for speed too.

I doubt Tips will be a Lions test 7 v SA not physical enough, Watson maybe but my money would be on Bilbo's mate or Curry

A rather dull match so far. To my biased eyes Wales have been somewhat hard done by with a few harsh calls. Ali Price seems slow, he takes an age even after being told to “use it”.

Much how I thought it would pan out in that wales kick a lot for territory and wait for the mistakes. Scotland wasteful. Shame Finn is off - he looked sharp

I was wrong about the scrums - nice to see a proper contest. Nice to see the rtef being strict and the breakdown and penalised Jones for his usual tricks - when you are on the ground throw your legs on the wrong side!

Not the greatest half of rugby

I don’t understand how they allow players to obstruct players kick-and-chasing out of their 22. Kinghorn just wiggled in front of Liam Williams at one point. It happens in every game and prevents teams using an exciting attacking move.

Ah well - to this one eyed fan I would say the opposite - the pen for no arms was harsh and the last Welsh scrum was dropped by the welsh prop as soon as the ball went in. I'm sure i could see more 🙂 With both eyes open actually I think the reffings been pretty good

About time. I thought the game would end before Ali Price used the ball!

Scotland and Wales deserve their places in the 6N table.

I can only see Scotland winning from here.

Damn.

A damn fine performance from Scotland and Hoggy really stepped up as captain. Times gone by all those injuries would have hurt us but we have enough players now to cope. Duhan only got one touch but showed how difficult he is to put down

Welsh fans must be disappointed tho - not just that they lost but that they created so little. all the territory they got was off Scotland mistakes

A word for the ref - a good game I thought

Says everything about the ref. The irony penalty was when he pinged Rowlands for sealing at a ruck.

**** my old boots you're easily pleased, had Wales sneaked it I'd have still thought they were shit!

Rowlands and Shane L-H look worth looking at again and Watkin at 12, beyond that we just have to hope the likes of Navidi, Tips and Moriarty are back soon and they players who have had no game time for ages improve. Faletau is looking like he's improving.
Props were weird, with Francis and W Jones we looked good but Carre played with Francis and just about held their own, when Lewis came on it went to shit. We need Carre and Lewis to carry but they cant scrummage.

AA - think back a few years when scotland were winning with ten minutes to go and had some injuries - they went to pieces and let wales win. this time with 10 mins to go we controlled the game. thats the good performance.

True, it was a fine gutsy win no doubt but neither team put in a "damn fine performance". You scrapped past a really badly misfiring Wales.

I hate to agree with a-a, but yes, I agree. I still have no idea what type of game Pivac is aiming for.

Oh, and minute silences. When they happen at almost every game they lose their meaning.

How many points will England put on Italy? It could be a lot.

The Lions are going to have to improve a bit, aren’t they?

Presumably the Lions are going to be largely England and Ireland players.

England look a shower of shit with a few exceptions.  They now need 3 tries and a 21 point minimum winning points margin within 40 minutes.

Ireland should win the 6N trophy.

Would be very French of them to get the big bp win for the title now.

Having just seen Andy Farrell's pitchside interview I'm perturbed by his weird accent.

C'mon Ireland !!

Don't forget that if France win England will probably win the 6Nations... Just how motivated are they?

I hadn’t realised quite how bad the 6N had been for Wales. Also don’t think I have ever been so uninterested in the conclusion of a 6N. Just doesn’t seem that important to finish it off 7 months after it was suspended. I half watched the England game - lack of crowd makes it very flat

Ah well, not to be. At least it finished with a good game. Well done England - I thought watching football in empty stadiums was weird, but a game in Paris without the French crowd falling in and out of love with the team 17 times during the game is weird. Really hope the next 6N isn’t played in empty stadiums, but I’m beginning to think it might be. 😕

So for mScotland - a decent but not great 6N. 3 wins is the minimum acceptable and we were not outclassed in any game. Good depth in a lot of positions but please the rest of you stop breaking our best players. Hogg has really grown into captaincy. showed calm heads to close out todays game - not something we are known for
I'll give them a B

True.
Weird thing is that Conway is a fine 15, very safe hands.
And Hugo Keenan on the other wing is also out of position - he's actually a full back.

England are champions and rightly so. Italy are the only team with a -ve points differential. Scotland only average having gone from a free scoring attacking team who couldn't win to a better defensive team who managed to close a game out against a poor Welsh team. The loss of attacking threat is a worry, let's hope it comes back along with Russell. France are on the rise glad we played them months ago not sure what to make of Ireland

England game – lack of crowd makes it very flat

I found this also, a remarkable difference.  After a usual week of abstinence I was really looking forward to my in-match beers, but it wasn’t the same not being able to over enthusiastically shout at the telly.

In other news, look at the points the AB’s put on Aus, holy mother of....
