Hi all
After some advice on lids that *actually* do their job properly.
Was having a splendid time yesterday learning some new skills when it all went a bit pear-shaped and I wiped out, hitting the back of my head on the ground quite hard. Well, hard enough in fact to knock myself out for a little while. After being ferried to A&E, scanned etc, I was given a clean bill of health (mother of all headaches mind), so all good. Except, the helmet I was wearing shows absolutely no signs of damage. I thought helmets were supposed to crumple, split etc when your head hit something, but this one didn't. I was wearing a Mixino by Catlike and have emailed them (waiting for response) about their crash replacement policy, but I am a bit concerned that it didn't do its job properly.
Any XC lids that people would recommend, based on personal experience of them doing their job of protecting one's bonce? Would welcome any useful pointers. Have always used Giro helmets up until getting this one.
Thanks all.
I mashed in the back of my old Fox Flux quite well- was left with a splitting headache and had a lot of bother walking down the hill but it seemed to help. Certainly couldn't complain that it looked undamaged!
That said, I'm sure it's possible for a helmet to do some good yet still not show any obvious damage.
