That’s brilliant! Is the cow part of the sale?
No. It’s dead, as described in the listing.
Could be a kidnapping, though she looks fairly happy about it. Unsure where the bike is...

Also, just because you can.... 😳

Gotta love insomnia...

Only $1.5m - get it while its hot

Vespa for sale. Yeah, it's that one out the window over there...

How did he not notice that finger in the shot? 🤔😉

Genius 😀

Why do people do that in for sale adds? It's quite common.
If I can't put it in MOT checker I assume there's something to hide and I just move on, does anyone ever ring them?

It's weird, isn't it. It's not like you can't see a whole host of registration plates using the nefarious tactic of "looking outside."

People who put more than one thing in the photo of whatever is being sold. (It's the red one.)

People who put a pic of their car on the back of a breakdown truck WHEN THE CAR IS NOT BEING SOLD SPARES OR REPAIR AND THERE'S NO MENTION OF ANY PROBLEM IN THE ADVERT!

Well, if I was planning a ram raid, I might search for a legit vehicle the same in detail as the one I'd stolen and fake the plates so that ANPR or police searches wouldn't flag anything with the stolen one I was driving.
At least I think that's why.
It's not only on Facebook or gumtree, saw this the other day in our classifieds. Pics not really selling it to me! I mean, at least clean it..

Kayak - you could do that by looking out into the street or a public car park even! What have I missed?
@anagallis_arvensis - I'm gonna be posting a couple of ads up for frames soon, I'd better make sure they're good now hadn't I!!
TBH the photos are quite good... but... what? It's not even a real one! Maybe in the garden alongside my wicker Harley?

I suspect it's because someone on the internet told them their car could get cloned or whatnot.
There's a lot of paranoia about scams etc.
Or they know the MOT history is a massive red flag.
Kayak – you could do that by looking out into the street or a public car park even! What have I missed?
Yeah but if you've stolen a blue transit custom that you intend to do a bank job with. Instead of sitting out in the road waiting for a blue transit custom to go by so that you can adopt the plates, you just search for one for sale and use that.
Only, there's a finger in the way.
That's my take on it anyway.
You're not preventing anything, but maybe you're making it less straightforward.

The ability to easily search by make, model, trim level etc. and find a car matching mine to copy the plates of, potentially years later.
Edit: Beaten to it!
Plus if I select a car at the far end of the country, it's a lot less likely that I'm going to end up parked next to it making it obvious.
There’s a lot of paranoia about scams etc.
I think the hire car thread shows that one person's paranoia is another's sensible precaution, and you don't generally find out you were wrong until it's too late. Not saying you're wrong, but it doesn't seem too far fetched to be a bit cautious about it.

‘been under a tarp for a few months’ …
If you say so mate.
We didn't have a phone camera so took this on some ancient fujifilm, developed it badly and then scanned it with the lid open.

Hope he at least got one good ride
House for rent.
Newly unboxed.

‘been under a tarp for a few months’ …
And out in the rain for the other 5 years?
A bit like "1 careful owner ..................... but can't vouch for all the others"
'selling as recently got married' has me wanting to read so much more.
What are you actually searching for to find 'Arm wrestling machine'?
Just comes up on the opening/search page. A whole page of randoms.
😂
That arm wrestling machine is my new favourite 😂 tempted to ask if the buckets and chair are part of the sale?
God they're everywhere! Some great sales tactics too.

Do I understand correctly... For an extra £100 not only will the lawn be destroyed but human excrement will also be deployed?
That Corsa - Copart special if ever I saw one! 350bhp motor? Someone’s taking the piss with the whole advert, which begs the question, why bother?
Going back to the estate agent photos, they don’t use a professional photographer, unless it’s a very expensive property where they’re printing a full-colour brochure with laminated glossy cover, etc. Usually it’s a member of staff who takes a bunch of snapshots, these days with a phone.
When I was working in prepress, we used to get lots of crappy photos sent in by estate agents to go into the brochures, frequently with the request to ‘brighten them up a bit’, ‘cos inevitably the exterior photos were taken on bright but overcast days, or dull and overcast days. I built up a library of sky photos, quite a few my own photos, others sourced from the internet, taken at different times of day, to try to match the angle of the sun in the photo by looking at any shadows. There was a bit of work involved in tweaking the overall tones, to try to make the image look as though there was some sun, removing blue from neutral tones, etc.
The clients were always chuffed to bits, but it was generally polishing a turd in reality.
That's the only picture and only description....

Oooft, way to sell a house. The only image of a £250K plus house

This one comes with an empty ice cream tub and a box of tissues...to be fair when you click in you can actually see it. But anyway.

Expensive things like houses taken by an agent's professional photographer.
Just move the van!
Or come back tomorrow if it's not the homeowners van

An agent’s photographer is only professional in the sense they’re a photographer employed by the agency. Doesn’t mean they’re any good!
I worked for a print company and I specialised in doing photoshop work, we did work for a number of estate agents, their photos were universally crap, not quite as crappy by the time I’d finished with them! 😎
Ummm 😂
2 grand for a boggo, 17 year old Corsa! I think it's a subtle advert for a crossover bodybuilding/comedy show.
