For all those are interested, rubbish is still sober (four nights now), the doctor has confirmed he is not an alcoholic, but would be classed as a problem drinker, he has been given the names and numbers of support groups if he needs them, however as he so far has been self medicating large doses of MTFU the doctor was happy for him to carry on the way he was, he has been prescribed a mild sedative to help with sleep due to the stress of the marriage break up, which unfortunately is still going ahead although he has seen his daughter a couple of times this week.

rubbish would like to thank everyone for the fantastic words of support
which quite frankly he couldn't have got through the first 3 days of the marriage split without and he apologises for the way the thread ended but certain people involved in his personal life had discovered it.

I'd read the previous thread and noting your improvement.

Keep at it mate (I say mate even though I don't even know you).

You will get better and stronger and be in a better a position to deal with this shit that life has thrown you.

Well done!

Just don't use the doctor's non-diagnosis to justify a drink again in the future.

Keep it up as it WILL get better 🙂

I read your thread, really felt for you and it was great to read so many encouraging replies. I would echo mikertroid, while you might not be a full on alcoholic, a problem still needs to be addressed and maintained. I sincerely wish you all the best.

I'd echo all of the above, your last thread did a huge amount to restore my faith in humanity. Great to see so many people trying to help out someone in need and great to hear things are starting to look up. The best of luck to you, well done!

We all need support at times in our lives and sometimes it's needed from strangers. As someone said on the original post, hats off to all the STW'ers for words of advice, encouragement, perspective etc..
Can be a cynical lot but I thought people were supportive on this one (generally!).
