What happens with delivery in the wake of storms such as we've just experienced? There must be colossal backlog at the post offices.

Tomorrow, will all of our front halls be filled with three days' worth of mail?

I'm eagerly awaiting some new Clement LCV tyres, you see, so this is an important issue!

Total chaos I reckon. Weirdly we've been getting deliveries from hermes but nobody else. God damn it royal mail, bring me the driveshaft for my remote control car before the snow melts or I will end you!

Best be patient, there will be a backlog, trucks will be in the wrong place and stuff not sorted due to sorting offices being down on staff. Just chill out and it will arrive when it does.

My poor Wilier is sitting in my library on completely flat Conti GP2s. It can not wait another day for its new rubber.

Northwind, let's start a revolution!

We shipped many trousers and jackets on Thursday from the Post Office in Hebden Bridge. Many people got them on Friday and Saturday.

I am extra oldskool,so I really don't give a toss how long the mail takes to get delivered,it's never a life or death purchase. Mail at any time is just a nice thing to come home to ( and yes I still write letters and post cards),and if it's something big ,then I don't mind wandering  up to the sorting office on a Sat morning. What I do give a toss about ,is the half assed efforts ( that I have had) by the likes of My Herpes and other zero hours desperados.

🙂

I'll tell you how it works from direct experience, stuff posted tomorrow (Monday) will probably arrive Tuesday, stuff posted last week might arrive a few days later if you are lucky if they have time, it's sat at the back of a Royal Mail warehouse. Don't think it makes sense? Last weeks stuff is already late, if they dealt with it first it would make tomorrows post late too hurting their delivery metrics further, and it's metrics they are judged on.

But Brant... How long did it take you to bring the trousers from wherever you made them to Hebden Bridge to post them?????

We have been out in Kendal except for Wednesday but mail/parcels coming into the Delivery Office has been way down, its going to be a busy week this week but after bosses threatened to flex/dock our hours on Wednesday due to their decision to keep us in has left a bad taste and I for one will not be working a minute over!

Crc/post office managed to drop a new chain on my door mat that was ordered on Wednesday afternoon. I didn't expect to see it for at least a week or so. Big up to them for that.

I work from a Leeds office , Wednesday to Friday we were on damage limitation taking some but not all of the mail , my work partner and I managed to get cleared on Saturday but we have been told to expect the next week to be much busier.

I'm not a big overtime worker ever so it's looking like we'll be leaving sections next week too , I'd rather be at home with my kids!

It will be bedlam, I wouldn't want to be a postie this coming week, the rounds will almost be as busy as the run up to Xmas! Depending upon how soon different parts of the UK lose the snow and ice.

I know our postie quite well, he's a decent chap who does his best and keeps an eye out in our rural community. Hopefully he didn't have to go out in dangerous conditions just to satisfy our desire for material gratification

Postie rich I share your pain . I'm in the Scottish Borders and it's been a mess with well over a foot of snow. Practically nothing delivered on wed, closed thurs after being phoned not to come in and nothing out on Friday . Spent Friday morning shoveling snow in the yard.

Got half my duty delivered on Saturday but this week will be a bit of an epic. Many of our rural farm roads won't be clear this week.

Still as long a little Johnny gets his new Xbox game then it's all ok. It would help if little Johnny cleared his frigging path as well.

We've not had any post since Wednesday. Our drive is shoulder deep in drifts with no chance of the post reaching us probably till the end of next week.

Would it be worthwhile going to the depot without one of those cards the postman leaves to collect parcels etc? If I took some ID, like a passport or driving license with my face and address on it, would they give us our mail?

Got an avalanche of stuff today, all more recent things as you'd expect, I reckon they'll be digging through the warehouse with shovels trying to get to the stuff from last wednesday

I've not had any post since Tuesday. I did pass the van when I left for work Wednesday lunchtime, but I'm guessing he opted to give up due to the weather.

He is useless compared with our previous posties though, as even in good weather, he's typically a couple hours later, and the route has never changed.

True but under 7 miles from you no posture ventured for a while... my dad went to see if he could dig them out but had to give up. Folks were tractor access for a bit and certainly no birthday cards for my dad this weekend.

Don’t need to go that far the old A1 was still in big drifts yesterday. They started clearing up from Alnwinton yesterday. Kidlandlee might be a little while yet.

We’ve had milk, post and coal delivered right through last week despite outside my door only being cleared on Friday of a foot of snow.

My new Scott Heater boots arrived today, ordered Friday.

The tracking email said "Left in your safe place" - the reality was "dropped over back gate"
