Anyone know if it is possible to just go to the delivery office to pick up mail there has been no delivery here all week and when you phone all you get is a recorded message saying they have problems due to the weather.

I was thinking the same thing, although with the amount of mail they have been unable to deliver i imagine the sorting offices are in chaos.

If it is like the Delivery Office that I work at then yes, no problem at all. I would imagine that if your local office is a big place then it might not be quite as easy.

Your postman will either be taking the mail out in the hope he can reach you, or leaving it in the frame if there is no hope of reaching your address.

Different sorting process.

I saw our postman for the first time this week this morning.

He was delivering a special signed for delivery to my neighbour, but he did not have anything else with him.

Is the situation going to be like after the postal strike with regards to how long the system is going to take to get back up to speed?

The problem is the decision as to how much mail you can manage is being left to the discretion of the postperson on delivery. In my office a lot of the lads are really taking the mickey , I'm clearing my fitting every day so It doesn't become unmanageable and booking the overtime.
