BT line rather than cable.
TIA
You can do it with Home Hub 5 on BT Broadband.
You do realise that this won't affect his ability to play single player games?

Small steps legend, small steps!
Most kids are only interested in shooting other kids on COD/Battlefield and taunting them in the chat, so it should make a difference. 🙂
My lad has absolutely no desire to play offline games.
I use a Raspberry Pi as the gateway router. I then have some firewall rules (iptables) which enable/disable particular MAC addresses at particular times of day.
It's kind of a pain but it works. One day they might figure out how to change MAC addresses on the fly to bypass the system, but they haven't so far.
Work on the principal that they know far more about it than you do and they will work around anything you do in about 10 minutes.

I really wish that this was true, but I fear I have the most technologically naive son in the western hemisphere.
His sister on the other hand........
When you stop posting on this thread, we'll assume that they've encrypted your hard-drive and locked you out of the network while they empty your Paypal account to buy COD points... 😀

Interesting, ONP. I'd read that it didn't have sufficient I/O to handle routing/fw'ing properly....has it been ok for you?
And is this on a 3?

I'm using a Pi2 now. I once measured NAT/routing performance on a Pi1 between two PCs and found I could get about 50Mbit/s out of it. In practice I get about 25Mbit/s, but I think that's limited by the VirginMedia network.
That would be good enough for me, and I have a spare 2 kicking about. Thanks.
I'm using a TP-Link W8970 and am able to control each device by time of day and day of the week by MAC address within the firewall section of the router's admin.
Works perfectly and if the boy should find a work around, then I shall applaud him before complete denial of service 😀

I have a script for doing this on my MBP do get round free Wifi time limits...

Since it's bridging in the ARM the limiting factor will be the rate it can handle frame (ie fixed Frames per Second rate) so you'll get a big difference in Mb/s throughput based on frame size, eg 64 byte frame throughput will probably be only 1-2 Mb whereas at large frame sizes eg 1500 you'll get a few 10s of Mb.
