Well its an old injury - crash before last. I landed on my (unprotected) forearm/elbow onto flat rock as I fell sideways and my arm was shunted upwards (initially I checked my collarbone as I'm sure that would have gone).

Carrying shopping bags leads to a twinge and a swift arm change and this weekend I think I've aggravated it (lifting bike).

I've felt and compared both sides- its sore to probe so due to the length probably torn?

Any experiences along with exercise to alleviate?

any exercise is good for a rotator cuff injury.

I get sore points but if I bash 'em about a bit with something pointy and then ice/heat them and then exercise they go.

Long term my swimming in the Maldives really sorted my shoulder problems.

Suffered with my rotator cuff when doing loads of swimming (training for a triathlon). Bad technique and over training was the cause.

I've been lifting weights since January, to improve the strength of the muscles around it. And as my strength has improved my shoulder has improved.

I pretty much do a normal weights programme that works my whole upper body. monday chest/shoulders, wednesday legs/core and friday is back/biceps

I then do my riding on the other days.

I've not done any specific exercies, but when my shoulder is better i intend to start doing some specific ones to strengthen the actual rotator cuff itself.

It's SO complicated I wouldn't like to give any advice.

Go to see a good (get recomendations) sports injuries physio..

I got good help tyhru the NHS for a bad / frozen shoulder after aggrivating and old climbing injury a couple of years back. Trouble is it's easy to make it worse if you do the wrong thing.

Rotator Cuff is 4 small muscles that hold your upper arm in the right place in your shoulder. Strengthen the one that is too long and you'll sort it pretty quickly
