Have any fellow forumites stayed there?
Just wondering what it’s like, as I seem to remember reading some rather ‘mixed’ reviews on here. UK campsites mentions Friday night karaoke - I’m wondering if there’d be a bit of a ‘Phoenix Nights’ vibe of a weekend😁
We have stayed on it a couple of times in the past and it was a bit tired. Always stay on the Crossburn now which we think is the better of the two.
Not to my tastes. Very formal. Pitches are all lined out and woe betide infringement on the many rules. I am no party animal, I like the outdoors for a reason and it is not to have the equivalent camping experience of attending a Butlins camp. Proximity to food/drink/biking is good though if you can overlook the rest of the experience.
I thought was ok tho didn’t go near bar or the ‘entertainments’. Is a nice wooded site so feels quite rural tho it’s in town. Fine as a base for biking.
Is defo open? I rang a month back and wasn’t sure.
Watch your bikes as well when you stay there.
We stayed there once and I wouldn’t bother again. In fact we’ve taken to staying more Jedburgh way: better sites and less likely to have your bike stolen!
Hmm...ta for the feedback. We had our bikes pinched when we in the area last year, so we’ll maybe avoid that site (sounds like the bike thieves regularly snoop about certain places in the valley where they think there’ll be rich pickings).
I've stayed there, but tired but did the job
Not great in my experience. Remember a particularly freezing shower after a wet cold glentress ride :-/ that was the most miserable I've felt camping. Saying that the location is decent if you're just there for a bit and stay away from the bar! Left the bikes out one night and got lucky by the sound.of it.
Now we stay at the glentress lodge campsite, might try the one in inners next time.
