Roof bar compatibility question (Thule/Halfords)

I've got a set of Thule Wingbars on my car. They're super. They're 150cm width (it's a wide car).

I want to stick 'em on my dad's car for a trip (probably occasional trips). He has a wee Skoda which needs 118cm bars.

I figure I could stick them on as is, but there'll be quite a bit of overhang. So I'm looking at picking up a set of cheap Halfords bars for when we need them (the footpack is the same so that'll just transfer across).

Will this work? Are the different brands compatible?

Edit...read the original post properly before typing not after 😄

Since the feet are compatible and assuming enough adjustment I'd just use the 150s unless the car is narrower than that overall.

I think my SMax uses about 120cm but the full car width is over 1.8m.  Most car roofs are a lot narrower than their width at ground level.

16cm either side would be ok I reckon. Still less than wing mirror protrusion I'd think?

I'd check that they fit first, I just got some 135cm Thule wingbars and there's not much more room for the feet to go further inboard, that's on a Fabia estate.

Do check as there's limited width adjustment on most Thule bars.

The cheapest option is borrow some bars or look on faceache/gumtree to buy and resell- I've just been buying and selling bars and feet on there and most are £30-50 each.

Yeah the footpack is definitely the same, they both have roof rails and I've checked on a couple of sites. I was slightly surprised tbh.

Good point about the limited adjustment, I think that'll stop me from using my bars.

I'll have a browse second hand and see what I can see! Halfords equivalents are 70 quid which is less than the price of hiring a bike...

Where are you? I've 110 and 118cm bars you could borrow if you're near Dunblane.

Cheers for the offer Matt, I'm in Hull so that might be a bit of a trek!

Think I've sourced some 130s from a mate which going by posts above should work nicely...
