For October. Any STW recomendations.
We visited ther Franklin (feel the sound) hotel a few years ago, something equally boutique would be ace.
Hotel Cosmopolita- fantastic location, right next to the emmanuelle Vitoria monument (the wedding cake), very near to trevi fountain, capitoline museum, Roman forum, colosseum.
It's quite olde worlde but with a roof terrace.
If you do use them get them to organise a transfer from the airport, when we did it was cheaper than train/bus option and they sent a suited and booted young Italian stallion in a limo Merc who gave us a wee tour of the city.
We booked an apartment instead as it worked out cheaper for the week we were there & gave us more choice + able to enjoy a few evenings together without having to be out in town.
Used this company, was a good booking experience & good supporting info given upfront; http://www.oh-rome.com/en/
The trouble is they all seem to serve the same shit "continental" breakfast, unless you're going to spend all your time in the room then get a cheap central one, when in Rome don't spend your time in a room, HTH.
this place is nice...

small boutique 5*, quiet, does a nice brecky which you can have on the balcony/terracw looking at that ridiculous victor emanuel thing, or in the garden, old building with own roman catacomb in basement, middle of town surrounded by characterful alleys (inc bars), and more knackered roman stuff than you can shake a stick at. stayed a few days last yearand found many of my middleaged boxes ticked.
Couldn't rate Hotel Artemide more highly. http://www.hotelartemide.it/en/home.html
Enjoyed our 1st wedding anniversary there last April. Beautiful hotel, great breakfast, good location. Not cheap but I think in Rome you get what you pay for.

We stayed in this one 6 months ago - lovely terrace in our room with view to the Vatican - nice brekkie and good location
Really rate the Minerva. Stayed countless times and couldn't be more convenient as right next to the Pantheon.
We stayed here, cheap and cheerful a bit like us but very clean and well appointed for the money. Well located, near the big train station so great for getting about.
