Rome has a lot of hotels and I'm now starting to suffer hotel blindness from Trivago.Ā I'm looking for a reasonable hotel in a reasonable location that has a room or rooms for 2 adults and 2 older children.Ā Do you know of any hidden gems or ones to avoid?Ā It'll be in the run up to Christmas if that makes a difference.Ā Thank you
We went in 2021 and stayed in the Prati area. Its the bit just up near and NE of the Vatican. Cheaper and good (affordable) places to eat and there are tube stations there (though we walked into the centre⦠about 20 mins). Ā We booked a random place on Expedia, which was fine and affordable.Ā
In May we went to the Rome Times hotel - it was very good, and an easy walk to the main attractions with the Vatican being the farthest. Ā With my friends being Italian we found a good place to eat, a roof bar opposite, and even an excellent Indian around the corner.
The hotel does a great breakfast - ask for coffee to be made for you rather than help yourself from the machine - not everyone knows that you can ask for this much superior coffee.
Just back from Rome last week.
We spent 3 nights in the Hotel Mascagni Appartments.
Close to Termini\Republica.
Area to the left of termini looked a bit rough so wouldn't want to be any closer
Really nice hotel and staff where lovely.
Forgot how hilly Rome was and the walk back up Barbineri might be a slog in hot weather
We stayed at the Palazzo Navona Hotel earlier this year. It was nice and in a good location.
I was the same as the OP so put some filters on for price and rating and then chose it with my eyes closed as otherwise I was going to spend forever trawling through reviews!
