Having a romantic night out in Manchester in a couple of weeks
Anyone got any good restaurant recommendations?
We're staying right in the city centre

What price range are you looking at? Do you want small and quiet or somewhere a bit busier?

Hawksmoor on Deansgate is pretty good if you want steak.

There's a whole host of places in Spinningfields depending on what you fancy eating.

Grill on the Alley is very nice, but if you want something special I would say Australasia. I'm not sure I'd describe either as romantic though - neither are exactly "intimate".

There are loads to choose from:

Manchester House
Midland French
San Carlo
Hawkesmoor
Rosso

You cant go wrong my friend if you book within good time. Anything shorter than a week and you may struggle.

Manchester House
Midland French (For sure.....it's expensive, but she'll love you for it!)

63 degrees is worth a look. It's in the northern quarter and independently owned by a French family. Very good classic dinning (a big step above the other establishments in the near vicinity)

Abode is very good (link)

Yang Sing is a very good Chinese (link)

Went to Australasia before Christmas and didn't think too much of it. Food was a bit hit and miss, service was a bit slow, and it was pretty noisy

Mr Coopers is run by Simon Rogan not as dear as the French but still very nice

Please don't go to Australasia, total rip off imho
Full of footballers wives and Joey Essex types

Alberts shed if you fancy a walk. They do a great Sunday lunch too if you're there at the weekend

i was just about to post Evuna!

haven't actually been there since about 2007 mind, but it was one of my favourite 'nice' spots when i lived in manny.

Make sure you go to Marhaba for lunch though. Best naans in manchester. Don't be put off by the exterior 😉

I felt it was likely to be before being talked into it, but was actually very pleasantly surprised.

Mind you I'm more likely to be found in This and That.

Looked through a few of them, read some reviews and looked at Google Images to see who doesn't put their tables too close together.

Grill on the Alley booked

I see the two of us sharing a Chateaubriand!

El Gato Negro opens on Feb22nd, it was excellent when it was in Ripponden (Michelin Bib award) and they've been getting ready to open for 14 months so it should be wonderful.
