What live TV channels does Roku stream?
After returning a Chromecast TV as it didn't stream things live, didn't have some channels that we currently get through satellite, I'm keen we don't have that issue again.

We've got an old Chromecast and a dish giving up, but with Freesat disappearing soon I'm not wanting to pay for new dish or aerial - but we're bumping into mrs_oab still wanting to watch live TV...

.... what did you want to stream live?

BBC and ITV stream live and work fine on the Chromecast.

CH4 app isn't available on the Chromecast which is weird but I just cast to it from my phone.

Live streaming is really dependent upon the app and not the hardware.

There is a way to live stream basically everything - apparently - but I can't talk about it here 😬

Depends what apps you install on it, ITV-x, Iplayer, whatever the channel 4 one is called... all have the option to watch live.

Its basically the same as a firestick but without the emphasis on amazon prime video in the UI. But if you also have prime, you can put the prime app on it.. etc, etc.

It will probably have things like pluto and freevee as well, and UK tv (UKplay?) (which is basicaly like a mashup of Dave, UK gold, and all that stuff).

Everything is app driven though, so theres no truly real universal 'tv schedule/list for the evening', you just download the rellevant app and open the app to watch the content provided by that app.

If its like a firestick, then there is a shedule of sorts, but not all apps feed into it, but you get gems like 24/7 police camera action, 24/7 true crime docs, and most importantly, 24/7 Judge Judy.

It seems I did. It's BBC changing it and some other channels moved in the past.

Hmm

Maybe it's pay for new dish time.

So by that it's no advantage to Google Chromecast and my phone.

🙁

Not really, other than having a remote - it's all about the apps.  The Chromecast with GTV has a better interface than the firestick in my view (i.e. it shows you stuff that that you don't have the app for but can hire) - there's a new version coming out in the not too distant future so the original (which I've been very happy with since it came out) might be even cheaper.

As I mentioned earlier, if you want to stream everything, then there is a way that is really very impressive but you'd need to DM me.
