Just for clarity, a mod edited my thread title. I certainly didn’t describe that POS as a man!

Don't worry. The original title is displayed in all its glory in the url in my search bar :o)

If Remain had won, Jenrick would currently be the most One Nation Tory going.

He is simply taking his cues from what he thinks keeps him at the trough longest.

He has no shame, no conscience. He will sit there and lie to your face over and over. No wonder he prospered mightily under Johnson.

He was caught breaking the law (the actual law, not the pretend law that parliamentary standards committees waste their time with) with Dodgy Desmond whilst he (Jenrick) was housing minister. He shrugged and carried on in the job without missing a beat.

He was an early one to be exposed breaking covid rules - rules that his government imposed. He just tossed a few interviewers off with bullshit and carried on regardless.

He is an utter ****. The fact that he now pretends to be more Brexity than a sovereign ring in the kisser is secondary, but only just.

The fact that he’s best buds with Jake Berry tells you everything you need to know.

Handy when getting funds signed off…

https://twitter.com/marinapurkiss/status/1315253148894859265?s=46&t=1lK7Dw1b6RqGJyvufO-trQ

He’s openly corrupt and doesn’t give a ****, because as comrade Ernesto has pointed out, he’s in a constituency where you could pin a Tory rosette on a baboons arse and it’d get elected

He has no shame, no conscience

But he does have 63% of his constituency vote and a 21,816 majority.

I don't know why you think Jenrick gives a toss what people think. IMO he is an arsehole because that is what he is - an arsehole.

It isn't some sort of act to garner votes which he doesn't need anyway.

Yep. He's a copper-bottomed crook using the nastiness of Brexit Britain to get ahead in life. No need for further comment.

jambourgie I have taught and currently do teach unaccompanied migrants from a few different countries Afghanistan, Syria, Ukraine for example, I have sat and listened to their stories. All I can say is that you either need to gain a shred of empathy, educate yourself or if you cannot do either just focus on shutting up.

Bollocks. I have plenty of empathy and continually try to educate myself.

FFS stop blaming every conceivable story on brexit. Robert Jenrick was a **** when he voted Remain. Brexit didn't make Robert Jenrick a ****.

The circumstances probably don’t look that different if you’re Syrian

Are Russian/Assad bombs different from Nazi ones in some way?

Oh absolutely. Just completely different in every other possible way.

Brexit didn’t make Robert Jenrick a ****.

It made it more expedient for him to openly act like one.

In the same way that it makes it expedient for Starmer to pretend he's an idiot.

Or are these in fact those “children” with full lustrous beards? In which case is a Micky Mouse mural really appropriate anyway?

It seems to me though that ultimately, responsibility for these children lies with their parents. Why is this illegal trade being enabled? Keep the mural but send the children back to their parents where they belong.

seems like you might want to try a bit more of that self education you mentioned.

Doesn't seem like it to me...you blame the parents....I can't imagine what you'd do if you found out a lot don't have any alive! You appear to be utterly devoid of empathy from where I'm looking.

I don't blame the parents. I said responsibility lies with the parents rather than the UK.  You're confusing a lack of empathy with just trying to remain objective on the situation. It's like saying you have no empathy if you disagree with capital punishment because someone you knew had a brother who was murdered. I've heard some horrific and heartbreaking stories myself from working in restaurant kitchens with people from all over the world. But I'm not playing Migrant Top Trumps with you.

If I blame anyone it’s the criminal gangs who profit from this misery and the useless or corrupt western governments who seem unwilling or unable through incompetence to do anything about it.

Have you got kids? Let's play a game. Pack one of them up and ask a group of criminals to smuggle them into Iran. See how you get on.

I'm not sure the parents always have much choice if they're being bombed, gassed or whatever, or looking at a lifetime of abject poverty.  In that case it would seem the better choice is to send the kids away.

Not everyone lives in what is by global measures in as privileged lifestyle as you

The idea that Robert Jenrick wouldn't be such a **** if the UK was still in the EU is laughable.

Everything Jenrick is doing now he could be doing if the UK had remained in the EU. As my earlier link shows the Netherlands has been forcing hundreds of asylum seekers to live and sleep outdoors, do you think that is somehow more acceptable than painting over a mural?

And as for your attempt to link this story to Keir Starmer claiming that it is all part of an attempt to garner popular support, I will remind you that it was the i who broke the story, not a Tory newspaper. Jenrick wasn't going around boasting of what he had done.

He did it because he is a nasty piece of work and this story is likely to make him simply more unpopular.

Even the Daily Express, that standard bearer for the Tory brexit right, is reporting the public outrage Jenrick's action has caused:

This is how we got here.

The Netherlands treats immigrants like shit too?

Oh, OK, scrub that - must be OK, then.

Ahh the old "You read the Daily Mail!' act of desperation. I have never read that newspaper. The only times I am exposed to it are from people talking about it on here. The last newspaper I took regularly was The Guardian in the early noughties when was younger and knew no better.

Accusing people you don't agree with of reading The Daily Mail makes you look like a stupid frustrated child having a temper tantrum. I'm sure you're not of course, but it certainly makes you look like one.

You justify the 'beards' comment however you like.

If you don't think it is out of order in this context in particular then, well, that speaks volumes.

Have a good day.

The idea that it was necessary to leave the EU to treat asylum seekers badly is absurd. The Tories would be treating asylum seekers exactly the same today if the UK had remained in the EU.

Have you ever heard of Yarl's Wood Immigration Removal Centre Danny?

And FWIW I'm done engaging with the foremost Brexit apologist on STW too.

Left wing through and through - Starmer's a Tory, Corbyn was great, but a little too centrist etc.

But when it comes to defending the greatest political victory ever made by the far right in the UK - into the thread like a rat up a drainpipe.

😂

I stand by the 'beards'* comment. At that point in the conversation I was unaware that parents were paying cash money to send their kids to the UK. And as I thought it was unlikely that large numbers of children were organising and funding their own passage across multiple countries I thought it a possible scenario. I don't see what is 'out of order' about that. If you don't like it then the problem is yours.

*For the benefit of clarity so people don't have to go searching for my comment. For the purposes of levity I implied that grown men with beards and no ID were possibly presenting as children in order to gain some unknown advantage, and thus was the removal of a Mickey Mouse mural was of no consequence.

I said responsibility lies with the parents rather than the UK.

Blame or responsibility, it doesn't make a lot of difference if they are dead or the child has no idea if they are alive.

But you do you, if you want to claim you empathetic whilst spouting such ill conceived rubbish that shows you are devoid of empathy I'll take my view.

Have you got kids? Let's play a game. Imagine how bad things must be if sending them thousands of miles away through people you don't know is the sensible option.

It's remarkable that you (who, as you admit, know very little about the subject) have such strong opinions.

Nobody is denying the existence of motives for sending children here. It's not that I have strong opinions on the subject, though that's a good observation and I had to have a think about why indeed I occasionally waste my time to get involved in such threads. I think it's because these topics kind of tweak my spidey-sense that there is some kind of wilful ignorance groupthink going on, something unsaid, some kind of ulterior motive. It feels disingenuous and I feel curious and impelled to find out what lies beneath. Not that I ever do, it just goes round and round until I get bored and slope off.

Take brexit for example. I have little interest in it, didn't vote either way, but according to the majority on here, it's all the fault of a few racists in Eastbourne etc. Meanwhile, over half the country votes leave... there's the weird disconnect right there. Likewise, one of our old moderators often comes out with guff like "there is no problem with immigration, it's only twelve people in a boat", then the official figure come out that it's about 800k and boats are sinking with hundreds of poor souls aboard.

It's just weird

"Daily Fail"

Good lord, so tragically unfunny. I bet you say 'Fleabay' instead of ebay too don't you.
