Got a bit of a drive on Wednesday, fancy a bit of breaky near Cambridge, does anyone use a decent roadside caff near there?
What roads are you likely to be on?
Not really a roadside caff, but there's a massive Tesco at Bar Hill (where the M11 merges with the A14) with a decent cafe. They do an OK brekkie. There's also a parade of shops there with a Costa if that's more your thing?
Not sure about proper greasy fry-up type roadside cafe though...
Red Lodge Cafe is supposed to be good... The last remaining one from when the A11 was bypassed from the village.
Which way are you coming from? I know a good coffee shop in Cambourne if you want to detour south of the A14 briefly, but if you have to stick on the A14, your best bet might be Bar Hill or Cambridge Services.
Oooh, if you are heading west, depending on the time of day, The Golden Ball at Boxworth (the same A14 junction as Cambridge Services) might be good for you, they do good food.
The Comfort Cafe at the Fourwentsways http://www.comfortcafe.co.uk/ is a reasonable palce to stop. Just off the A14.
We are heading to Felixstowe, from Banbury, so will be on A14 after Cambridge.
Tonyg2003, that'll do, cheers.
tonyg2003 - good shout, that! Will have to remember that....
Just don't stay at the Travelodge next to it. It's a pit!
If you nip off at the Ely junction and head into Newmarket, right at the end of the slip road, there's a Waitrose on the right about a mile down the road. It has a decent cafe in it.
Thanks all
