Off on holiday tomorrow morning. I would like to take the roadie and the SUP but the missus says she has read the road riding isn't good and roads are busy and dangerous and the SUP won't be any good as the Atlantic coast is rough.
Basically she thinks it is too much faff and takes up too much space. To be fair we have an electric car and not sure of effect on range and it might create more hassle at the chunnel when it's already a bit crap lately.
The SUP does take up a fair amount of boot space. That said do want to do the things I like on holiday. Anyone got any experience, worth the hassle?

Drove through La Rochelle last week & the roads are pretty busy. You could head over the bridge to Il de Re & out of town. There are cycle lanes but they're pretty busy too.

The Atlantic was fine for paddle boarding everywhere we went, (travelled up the west coast) The wind did pick up at times & the headwind was hard going but the sea was pretty flat.

Generally the vendee is pretty flat but there are gravel cycle routes that traverse huge swathes of coast, not sure about La Rochelle specifically.

Ile de Re is pretty but again pan flat and the roads are busy do the cycle paths are safer. I took a bike there but literally only used it to go and buy stuff at the local market.

Sup wise it just depends on swell bu5 it could be flat like a lake or way too wavey. A bit pot luck I’m afraid
