Dio has rocked for a long, long time,
Now it's time for him to pass the torch.
He has songs of wildebeests and angels,
He has soared on the wings of a demon.
It's time to pass the torch,
You're too old to rock, no more rockin' for you.
We're takin' you to a home,
But we will sing a song about you.
And we will make sure that you're very well taken care of.
You'll tell us secrets that you've learned. Raow!
Your sauce will mix with ours,
And we'll make a good goulash baby.
Dio, time to go!
You must give your cape and scepter to me.
And a smaller one for KG.
Go! Go! Dio! Dio!

RIP 🙁

Sad times, didn't know of the guy directly, but certainly listened to a fair bit of music he was involved with.

Dad was at his friends today (who happens to organise a metalfest called Bloodstock) and told me that Heaven and Hell pulled out due to the lead singers illness, then I saw this thread! 🙁

"Dio can you hear me?
I am lost and so alone.
I'm askin' for your guidance.
Won't you come down from your throne?"

RIP Ronnie!

He didn't seem that Hungry for Heaven, but, like all Rock and Roll Children he built a Tower of Stone, with his flesh and bone -

...and now we watch him fly...

Or something like that. RIP Dio. I shall dig out the turntable and play Rainbow's On Stage for ya... (Catch the Rainbow I reckon) and I shall rock the devil horns.

**** 🙁

I just put "Neon Knights" and "The Last in Line" on my MP3 player last week.

When Heaven and Hell came out back in 1980 it was the first time I'd heard RJD and I was blown away. Later I came across the early Rainbow stuff.

Time to catch the rainbow Ronnie.

I saw him twice back in the day with Sabbath and Dio and more recently with Dio doing Holy diver, not a great fan of his bands but he had a great voice and seemed like a nice chap, too humble if anything.

God bless you Ronnie

Can't add much more other than it is very sad. Never saw him live as we bought tickets as 14 yr olds (1981/2) but our lift let us down (mate's dad) and there wasn't a train late enough so somewhere at home I have an unused Dio ticket.

Didn't find out until today when listening to Planet Rock. What an awesome singer he was. Saw him in '85 and had a great presence for a small man! Going through the catalogue now that I have.

Probably not the most appropriate time to say that it was all mostly pretentious shite. Rainbow Rising was one of my earliest memories of heavy metal. I was 12, but my sister was a few years older and a big heavy metal/Rock fan and had loads of albums and tapes. Due to her, I got into it for a year or so and my first albums were Motorhead, Led Zeppelin 3 and AC/DC Back in Black, until I discovered Punk.

Really very sad news. Saw him a few times in 'Dio' & met him a couple of times after the gigs. Genuine talent.

And his "We Rock" showcases his great vocal abilities... I'll be playing his music tomorrow in the shop, can't do more than spread the good vibes across Skerries. What a shame, what a shame... It should've been Jedward instead 🙁

We're a ship without a storm
The cold without the warm
Light inside the darkness that it needs, yeah

We're a laugh without a tear
The hope without the fear
We are coming........ - hooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooome!
