Only found this out today, I am gutted.

I followed this war as a 9 yr old on Tv and at the 25th anniversary I watched it on TV and balled my eyes out.

My dad's cousin, he was. I only met him a couple of times but he seemed a very nice bloke, (my dad says he was really really sound). Hard to imagine him being a naval officer when you saw him in cords and a sweater!

I hardly remember the amazing bald/flyaway hairdo in that photo of him just after they abandoned the Shef.

I used to have a crush on the daughter of the captain of the ship that came to rescue the Sheffied. Which as links go is pretty tenuous.
