Real sad news. I’ve been watching a lot of her videos lately.
Always liked her attitude and personality.

Crikey, RIP Sabine.

She flew past me in the ring taxi with 3 passengers when I thought I was gunning it on my superbike round the Nordschleife many years ago, super talented driver

Gutted.

She was certainly an effervescent personality & seemed to have an almost uncontrollable enthusiasm for what she did.

RIP Sabine....

I didn't even realise she was ill.

Natural enthusiasm and confidence shone out of her due to her amazing talent.

RIP

I love it when people are enthusiastic about what they do, she embodied that.

Wow. This is really sad. She was one of those 'full of life' people, it's hard to imagine her fading away with cancer rather than backwards through the Nurburgring armco in an M3.

Her appearances were some of the highlights of 'golden era' Top Gear, so sad to see such a talented character gone so soon.

RIP

Loved her ragging that Transit with Hammond - he’s filling his shorts & she’s just giggling like a schoolgirl....

RIP....new leader on the TG lap board of externals I reckon..

I was on and off with Top Gear but definitely her ragging the Transit round the Ring was a highlight for me.

Wot Superficial said "This is really sad. She was one of those ‘full of life’ people, it’s hard to imagine her fading away with cancer rather than backwards through the Nurburgring armco in an M3."

RIP Sabine.

I enjoyed her on Top Gear, but that was the least of her palmares (see link). I hope they can find a corner to name after her. RIP

Wow, such a talented and enthusiastic driver and person.
Had the fortune of having a quick chat with her on my last trip to the 'Ring.

RIP Sabine.

So sad, it goes to show how cancer can hit anyone. Still young, still very fit and healthy but cancer doesn't care.

So sad. When I saw the headline I assumed she'd run out of luck on the 'ring but it seems cancer does not respect talent! Her laps in the van are some of my favourite bits of TV this century.

I'm not going to lie, that was a shock reading that on the forum!

Like others, didn't know she was I'll. Such a tragicly early end to a life that was lived flat-out. Will watch that Transit video again later.

She (+ her bloke) was on one of those Discovery channel log cabin programs a few years ago (Timber Kings??). They basically worked with the log cabin company to design one and had it shipped to Germany and built there. I think it's a bar/hotel now

https://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g6865043-d10193056-Reviews-The_Longhorn_Saloon-Barweiler_Adenau_Rhineland_Palatinate.html

She was clearly really enjoying life. Good on her!

Spotted on Twitter earlier, I was stunned. Damn shame, she was the best thing about 'new' Top Gear. Highly skilled driver and imminently watchable presenter.

Shocked here, too. Not particularly followed her work other than the TG Transit ragging and just thought - she looks fun.

Sad news 🙁

I can only second what so many have already said, a wonderfully effervescent character who absolutely loved every second of what she did. So very sad that she’s gone so young. RIP Sabine, you’ll be much missed and fondly remembered.

There’s a petition started to get a corner named after her: https://www.change.org/p/n%C3%BCrburgring-1927-gmbh-co-kg-name-a-corner-of-the-n%C3%BCrburgring-nordschleife-after-sabine-schmitz

Watched a few of her vids on Youtube, she was a great character. I still remember the transit van episode on Top Gear.

RIP.

5* trousers. Often people who are *really good* at what they dont need any mouth at all.

I had a couple of days at the ‘ring some years ago. She wizzed past me with her taxi fares and then took our orders at her family pizza restaurant at Addenau a few hours later.

Normal. Talented. Nice. Bonkers.
