Forgotten hero of the Iranian embassy siege, but an incredibly brave man in exceptional circumstances.
Seem to recall they interrupted Antiques Roadshow or some such in order to broadcast the SAS going in live on TV.

RIP indeed...reading about exactly what he did for the duration of the siege is staggering. Presumably he could have made a tidy amount from selling his story and doing the rounds...but he shunned all that for his quiet family life.
RIP
"At one stage, when technicians were placing listening devices in the wall of the embassy, the leader of the terrorists became suspicious of noises. He suggested to Lock that police were trying to break in and ordered him to investigate.
With superb theatrical mime, Lock took a plug from a wall-socket and listened. Then he took up the carpet and pointed to a hole in the floorboards that ran beneath the skirting. “This building is over a hundred years old,” he said. “I expect it’s mice.” Everybody laughed, including the terrorists, and calm was restored."

It was the snooker, and Points of View was bombarded with hundreds of complaints during the following week complaining about it!
I remember sitting watching the snooker at a mates house when it happened.
Good series on BBC Sounds about it. Trevor Lock talks about how he went as long as he possibly could without eating as he knew using the toilet would reveal his gun. He managed to get to the point where they trusted him enough not to watch him in the toilet.
Really must have taken incredible nerve to keep his weapon knowing it would have been a death sentence if found.
I’ve read about him on and off since the 90’s. Seems like a solid bloke who’d be great to have around if things went sideways like they did on that day.
RIP PC Lock.
To hold it together under that stress, impressive man.
Watched 6 Days on Netflix last night. Remarkable story.
RIP PC Lock.
Was supposed to be going to his stepson's wedding which got postponed due to the siege. Eventually happened a few weeks later - despite people asking, he didn't want to say anything about it. Top bloke.
