Joe Brown passed away 2 days ago aged 89. Not Covid related.
He was THE Legendary figure in British rock climbing and also made his mark in the alps and in the worlds greater mountain ranges.
His climbing skills and audacity in the post war era made him a hero to his and later generations.
He was also known as an all round nice human being, unlike some other egotistical top climbers.
His autobiography The Hard Years inspired me and thousands of other young climbers back in the day.
Joe left a legacy of brilliant climbs all over Britain and worldwide which still command great respect to this day.
