For me he was the face and voice that accompanied those first bold outdoor broadcasts from the Old Man of Hoy and Gogarth. I associate him with the great climbing characters of the 60's and 70's - Patey, Brown, Haston, Bonington et al. A very sad loss.

He was also a decent climber in his day. Loved the computer show, was excellent in its time.
