Mine too.
Him and Chris Searle doing the computer show. Loved every minute.
RIP fella.
Mine too! Making the most of the micro and all that; brilliant!
Like most of us he must have been stunned by the massive surge forward of computer technology.
RIP.
First reaction was "Ian who?" then I saw the pic and was transported back to my youth. RIP Ian.
He might not actually have died though.
Maybe if they tried turning him off and back on again.....
Watch the YouTube bit on this.

Top bloke.
😕
🙁 general enthusiast really
first ascent of Muztagh Tower as well, flipping heck.
For me he was the face and voice that accompanied those first bold outdoor broadcasts from the Old Man of Hoy and Gogarth. I associate him with the great climbing characters of the 60's and 70's - Patey, Brown, Haston, Bonington et al. A very sad loss.
Telly climbing with Mac et al was what got me climbing.
The "names" of my youth are starting to go.
The "names" of my youth are starting to go.
Me too 🙁
He was also a decent climber in his day. Loved the computer show, was excellent in its time.
