RIP Grant, heard is was ill but just seen the news he's passed away.

My favourite band, had the privilege to see them live, though my eardrums never forgave me.

Without Husker Du there might not have been any Pixies, Nirvana etc.

Up until 8 Miles High my music was definitely on the Rush side of things.
Hearing that song being played by Dave Fanning from across the water while on holiday in Wales genuinely changed my life.
"Here's a song by the Byrds , they wrote it but it sure didn't sound like this....Husker Du 8 miles high."
I still have the tape somewhere

OMG! I am genuinely gutted. Hüsker Dü are one of my all time favourite bands. They really were the soundtrack to my youth. Was secretly hoping that one day there would be reunion. 🙁

Does Greg Norton still run a restaurant?

Such an important and underrated band. Had the privilege to see them live in London in 1986.
Loud and uncompromising music, but so many great tunes.

That's sad to hear, Husker Du were the best! (one of my biggest regrets is never seeing them live) 🙁

Truly gutted. Mould brought the anger, Hart brought the melody. I guess I'll never see them live now 🙁

Definitely in my "top five favourite bands" - always thought they might do a small reunion tour.......Bob Mould wrote a touching tribute

Saw them at Glastonbury in 1987 and they made a reet racket compared to a lot of the other tosh that was on that year - they were excellent

really great band and got me into USA hardcore and that to bands like the Pixies and Dinosaur Jr

thanks for the memories

Am a little sad. I found them the other way round. Listening to Mega City Four and working backwards...

They started up selling Husker Du merchandise quite recently which got a few people excited about reunions but in hindsight I wonder if it was just to get a bit more income for treatment.

Anyway, this is a good 5 minute read if interested Variety Grant Hart appreciation

Great song writer and singer.
Bob knew they'd never get together again but we all could hope.

I just hope Bob hangs around for a lot longer!

Really sad news. My best mate at uni was a massive Husker fan and ran a fanzine 'Guilty Face' - he followed them on tour and interviewed them backstage. I saw them live in Birmingham but to be honest didn't really appreciate how good they were at the time. Warehouse: Songs and Stories is a powerful epitaph for the band and my favourite Husker album. Have since seen Bob Mould live several times and had hoped they might get back together but it wasn't to be.

This really helped me through the first year at university. Loved it.
