... some pun about the Living Dead.
Legendary filmmaker George A. Romero, father of the modern movie zombie and creator of the groundbreaking “Night of the Living Dead” franchise, has died at 77.
Romero died Sunday in his sleep after a “brief but aggressive battle with lung cancer,”

He was great in his day.
Dawn and Day are excellent. Martin is great too. And Creepshow.
Shame his latter films went off boil.
Still, we probably wouldn't have any zombie films these days if it wasn't for him.
RIP led the way as far as the Zombie genre goes.
Opening scenes of Dawn of the Dead remake was awesome. RIP.
The Crate from Creepshow gave me nightmares for about a year as kid, why did it have to escape at the end?! Although I blame my parents for letting me watch it aged 10 rather than George.
RIP
What a legend
Dawn of The Dead (original) in particular was a brilliant film, not a film about zombies but a film about people & society
Edit, that newsthump is a great tribute!
