Very sad news. A true legend of house.

Didn't appreciate his talent at the time I could have seen him play more...

That 'Your Love' track with Jamie Principle is incredible, if you wanted to play one track to somebody who'd never heard dance music then that's the one you'd play for them, still my favourite after all this time.

A true legend, very sad. Thanks for the music Frankie, I'm so glad I grew up listening to you and not Dubstep.

Sad loss. He'd been struggling with health problems for years. The last I heard he'd had both feet amputated so I suspect diabetes. Think I'll do a little Frankie tribute mix tonight.

Can't put too finer point on the fact that this man changed my life completely. What he & Ron Hardy Larry Levan etc created & then Mike Pickering and countless others brought to a wider audience was probably the last underground cultural shift we will see.
I met my wife in the Hacienda on a Wednesday night in 1989 & we have been together ever since & now have four kids & that movement that happened in those clubs & fields in those years broke down so many walls including a closed shop that was the music industry. It gave me the chance & from there I went in to work in LDN set up with my own PR company for nearly 20yrs specialising in electronic dance based music I travelled & met so many heroes & legends.
I will never forget the sweat smiles whistles & gurning 🙂

Very sad to hear this , this morning . I'd imagine god has put on some new Stantons on Heavens sl1200's and the Big Man will be cooking up a storm.
What a legend and way ahead of the game .

R.I.P Frankie.

RIP Frankie

Total legend from his roots in the disco scene to basically starting a whole globe smashing genre.
Some serious moments in his production/remix catalogue no doubt.

I thought it might be a wind up, but it isn't. So many good tunes came from Frankie, he will be remembered by the House Massiv.

Going to have a House mix this evening in memory of the man.

I have 2 loves in my life... Mountain Biking and House Music.

Inside 3 days we've lost one of the most influential men in Cycling in Britain, and the Godfather of House music!

😥

RIP Frankie. Never got to see him live sadly, the irony is that next Saturday he was supposed to be playing in Brum and I was very tempted to go!

Very sad indeed, a true gent of a dj who was genuine in appreciation of his fans and is well deserving of his Godfather of House moniker. We had him play for us a few years ago and it was a pleasure to host such an iconic figure, no airs or graces about him at all nor the i'm a famous dj vibe that so many of ilk seem to have, he hung about afterwards and wandered throughout the crowd meeting folk and enjoying the vibe - a fantastic storyteller as well as a DJ of impeccable taste.

Strangely enough for the past few days i have been listening to the latest xlr8r frankie knuckles @ sound factory new york podcast, seems prescient as i was thinking i really should try and catch him play this year 🙁

Always the way with the those that start a culture, it's the bandwagon jumpers that get all pretentious very quickly. Your Judge Jules' and your Jeremy Healy's (to name but two) for instance...

Very sad indeed, a true gent of a dj who was genuine in appreciation of his fans and is well deserving of his Godfather of House moniker.

The moniker isn't really relevant of his approach to his fans to be fair, quite simply, without Frankie Knuckles, House music as we know it today would not be the same. He was the one alongside Larry Levan that started it all!
