Was just wondering why Craig Charles is playing the full 20 minute version of Autobahn on BBC6Music. Was wondering if the queen had died or similar...

What can you say? I usually think people are exaggerating when they describe recently dead musicians as a genius, or whatever. Not in this case.

As well as everything else they almost managed to make cycling cool.

Can anybody tell me who the cyclist is at 1:41 - 1:43 in the video I just posted? I know the face but cannot place him.

Nooooo
Saw KW 11 years ago - hadn't realised they were pensioners even then.
Will have to get out the book of sheet music tonight and have a bash at Trans Europe Express (ok the opening chords anyway).

Thanks djc1245

I thought it might be as he looks so elegant.

The Bill Bailey thing is excellent.

Unique and very influential. Just missed seeing last year and the Blue Dot festival.

Tribal Gathering... I didn't go, but listened to it live on radio - even on an awful hifi it was amazing. I guess they were 'old hat' even then but it was new and exciting for me. I have a tape recording of the R1 show somewhere, but nothing to play it on these days...

Just started. I mean anyone who is a fan would have it play for themselves, but hey ho. nice tribute.

RIP Hr. Schneider.

Saw KW once at the Manchester Velodrome (July 2009). Absolutely superb.
Florian had already left the band at this time.

I don't believe there will ever be a more groundbreaking and influential group of musicians.

Yeah I missed Blue Dot but I did see them a few years ago in Tate Modern.

Sad news. Arguably Kraftwerk have been more influential than The Beatles.

After he name checked David Bowie and Iggy Pop on Trans Europe Express Bowie returned the favour on Heroes by entitling a song V2 Schneider

I've been lucky enough to have seen them twice, once at Brixton in 2005 or so and a few years ago in Sheffield Sheffield but I would have loved to have seen them at Tribal Gathering.
I'll make do with listening to this recording of it which is giving me goosebumps as I listen to it

Listening to that nearly 20 year old recording they still sound like the future to me. RIP.
