All deaths are sad. The death of truth even more sad.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson, a former columnist for the paper, paid tribute to Sir David.
"Farewell with respect and admiration to Sir David Barclay who rescued a great newspaper, created many thousands of jobs across the UK and who believed passionately in the independence of this country and what it could achieve," he tweeted.

Now, I love Sark... it's beautiful, and the people there friendly and generous... and it is independent... but the Barclay Brothers brought Brecqhou and moved there because they believed in the their own independence from the UK. They opted out of all their responsibilities to the UK, while seeking to shape it via the Telegraph and bought and paid for PM. For him to hold them up as some how being passionate patriots is a kick in the teeth for everyone who actually lives in the UK, including millions of EU citizens, and a reminder that his loyalty is to the offshore billionaires who helped him get to where he is... with their money, and their paper.
Won’t make any difference, hasn’t his son been running the business for a while now?

Adelson, Barclay.
Summink about judging a man by the company he keeps....
Let's hope there is a hell, otherwise if he is in his own heaven it will likely be a pretty depraved place
Off to warmer climes.
who believed passionately in the independence of this country
So much so that he buggered off to (and bought) the Channel Islands so he didn't have to pay tax.....
I love the Channel islands (Wife & Step Son are both Jersey born & bred) but the whole wealth thing is wrong - hence why we live in Staffordshire now and not St Helier.....
Good. ****.
