bloody hell 🙁
not seen it elsewhere yet?
bbc...
Thats a damn shame. RIP indeed. 24/7 is one of the best films ever made IMHO. Understated genius….
Wow that's a shocker. Enjoyed his work. Particularly The Woman Who Married Clark Gable, the last short preceding film I saw at the cinema.
No 🙁
Sad day... 🙁
Who Framed Roger Rabbit? was great.
Thats a damn shame. RIP indeed. Roger Rabbit is one of the best films ever made IMHO
christ didn't know until now
r.i.p bob 🙁
Damn beaten to it.
But then again KonaBunny was bound to be all over that 😀
RIP
I remember him from this. Amongst other things.
We should revive this on Friday, post up his best work, make it a long one 'n all...
Top geezer!
There's a lot of acting going on here and barely a word said;
RIP Mr Hoskins.
We went to see Who Framed Roger Rabbit at the cinema with an American lady, after the film I asked her what Bob Hoskins's accent was like (with thoughts of Dick Van Dyke) and sounding puzzled she told me that she had no idea he wasn't American, which impressed me greatly.
A shame he didn't get more big roles as he must have been one of the most well known/recognisable British actors ever and he was always entertaining.
WFRR is a true classic though, totally unique, and Bob was perfect in it so he has a great legacy.
There's a lot of acting going on here and barely a word said;
Top class.
Sad news. 🙁
Just heard on the radio. A great actor who didn't take him self seriously.
Sad day. Didn't realise the was 71. You'll be missed Bob but your work lives on.
RIP.
Great actor and seemed a great bloke as well.
Stand down Bob.
"Look at you. The Mafia. I sh1t 'em."
I thought he was brilliant in Mona Lisa
I will dig out my copy of The Long Good Friday on well Friday.
Always thought Mona Lisa was one of his best.
A big loss to the British acting community.
Roger Rabbit is one of the best films ever made IMHO
hmmm, I think I'd take The Long Good Friday. Brilliant, absolutely brilliant film and a cracking performance by Bob. Espcially those last couple of minutes in the back of the cab
And this scene

And then there's Mona Lisa, sad little man who couldn't be further away from the menacing Harold in Friday

RIP
He was a great comrade in Enemy at the Gates
Brilliant in "Pennies from Heaven"
Fave line from LGF - Harold Shand (to himself): "I'll 'ave 'is carcass dripping blood by midnight"
Followed him ever since pennies from heaven, great bloke, sad loss, gutted, not really that old in todays money.. RIP
Might have to watch LGF with the added bonus of the young Helen tonight.
Loved all his stuff. LGF, Mona Lisa et al. R.I.P.
I know nothing about Bob Hoskins the man but he was a very very fine actor, RIP Bob
I remember on the move wwaswas, we're obviously the old farts on here! Sunday mornings, from an inauspicious beginning....
I remember it too. Me and my brother were dead chuffed when my dad managed to get Donald Gee's autograph in a pub somewhere.
The first I knew of it was when the lad who has been hired to tweet for our company decided to go all Peaches Geldof on it claiming for each of our divisions that we were all horrified by the death of Bob Hoskins. Most of the staff ( young people under 30?) had no idea who he was. And whilst I would probably rather he lived I certainly wasn't drowning my sorrows on hearing the news.
Twitter is rapidly becoming the online equivalent of bunches of flowers at RTA sites.
Just got round to watching The Long Good Friday, after seeing it on this thread, and what a superb film it is too! Good sound track as well, and pretty fast paced for it's age. Very nearly didn't get released either: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Long_Good_Friday
Yeah, awesome film. Helen Mirran looks smokin' in it too. Which is nice.
