I imagine it's been this way for a month or three, but it's still sad to see.

The irony of the image above not showing has provided some amusement. 🙂  (Win10, FF)

In other news, it's been the driest day here for almost two weeks!

Just shows how a forum can go from be No.1 to nowhere! 😉

I wonder if the peope that ran or owned it ever thought that it would be abandoned by the users so comprehensively?

The Outdoorsmagic site/forum (which is also dead as a doornail really) was down a few days ago due to maintenance.  Old links went to the same message as above, so you need to update them.  Bikemagic one might be undergoing the same thing, not that there is anything to look at....

Link from Twitter, if that helps.

True. The split and sale of the ...Magic websites didn't really help things either. I wonder what Jeremy's doing now.

Edit: I suspect emoticons haven't been completely tested on the new forum.

What can replace Outdoors Magic to get my walking/outdoor fix?

The last BM news article was from 2015 so i'm not surprised the forum is a bit 'unwell'.

Does the reverse apply if you take a really good mousetrap and replace it with a fairly shitty, irritating-to-use one?

UKC maybe if you like arguing with people who used be climbers, but now ride mountain bikes really badly? But there's not much out there otherwise. I kind of like Outside, but it's not very British.

Google says he's selling a software solution for estate agents... with Adam. I wonder what became of Robin, the tech mastermind behind the whole Magicalia jalopy 😉

😉

That's better...

As far as I can tell, Outdoors Magic is still going.  Long standing editor (who used to frequent on here, and troll a fair bit) moved on last year or so I think, and content is really very thin.  Forum is very static, boring, with little traffic (compared to here anyway).  Site was updated a few days ago and now has heavy branding from Fjallraven, for some reason.  Not sure why, but that's not usually a good sign for independent reviews.  Never been a great site, but it is getting worse.  There isn't much in the way of good alternatives unfortunately.

Thats a shame.   Met a fair few people via BM, all of whom turned out to be quite decent people, except theonethatshallnotbenamed...

There's a decent group on faceboak, backpacking and mountaineering Scotland or similar, good for outdoor stuff in respect to hills anyway. The odd bawbag, generally a dog evangelist or a dog hater, but mostly decent.

Possibly Dylan took out the servers with an ice bullet, or the anti gravity hill the servers where based in exploded.

Some interesting characters on there

Genuine LOLing at that.

Mr. D. Good bloke. Was a good troll too. I seem to recall he had a whole raft of BM identities.

I thought that was this place? I certainly fit that demographic, and haven't been on UKC for years!

From Sensible Footwear Magic?

Edit, and if they don't sort out shit like this...

<span style="display: inline !important; float: none; background-color: transparent; color: #222222; font-family: 'Open Sans'; font-size: 16px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: 22.4px; orphans: 2; text-align: left; text-decoration: none; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; white-space: normal; word-spacing: 0px;">I first came over here on a raiding party.</span>

then this place will follow BM down the toilet.

Jeremy doing software for estate agents, Robin went to Oz, trained to be a pilot and was flying...that was from a year ago when I spoke to Jeremy.

It was brilliant.....some great threads and because it was pretty much unmoderated, you never quite knew what was coming next!

(no relentlessly boring lefties spoiling every thread either!) 😉
