Wow. 83 !

Good age - I always assumed she was still in her 30s.

Wow, same age as my dad.

And I don't think he had a breaks show on R1 in the noughties, not that he's told me about anyway.

RIP.

I did an hour's mix on her noughties breakbeat show one time.  She didn't just keep DJing til she was old, but she also supported a lot of young, underground artists, way after the time that most people have zoned out. It was much appreciated, not least for the PRS boost!

Some years later I was DJing after her at a festival and she moaned at me for fading out her last tune too quick. But festival sets are a tight ship, I didn't want to spend 10% of my whole set standing there waiting for it to end!

Biggups Annie, you'll be missed.

A true pioneer and inspiration to many women, up there (in every sense) with John Peel

RIP Annie

We booked her a couple of times to play in the dance tents at Wickerman festival in the 2000s,  she went down well but she was a bit of a diva and prone to outbursts but I guess she’d earned that right,  she refused to stay in the hotel we booked for her as it wasn’t up to standard (Selkirk hotel kirkcudbright, where most of our guests stayed) so we had to pay an extra few hundred £ for a hotel in Dumfries 30 miles away and associated taxi costs.

You didn't fade out the Skrillex remix of Going in for the kill before the drop did you?
I'm pretty sure it happened to Granny Mac

The tales on BBC website confirm that she was an all around legend (diva proclivities aside). Last show was just before Christmas which is a life well lived.

RIP
