Riders/groups in Hampshire?

I'm a part-XC/part-trail rider, based in Northern Hampshire. I'm in the blue-red category of rider skill and have visited most bike parks in the South at least once.

Until recently I rode almost every week with my best mate. Unfortunately, in January he had a crash on his dirt jumper at Edenbrook bike park, breaking his T3 vertebra and becoming a paraplegic. I'm fundraising for a handcycle for him, so he'll be out on the trails again one day, but it's left me in a weird position with mountain biking.

Riding is number 1 of my many hobbies, and I'm still going out XC riding as I've always done this alone anyway. However, I am really hesitant about bike park/trail riding, as the times I've been out on my own, it just really isn't the same. I feel like you need pals to share the stoke and look after each other, it's less fun and much more nerve wracking when you're on your Larry!

Are there any groups/people on here in Hampshire who wouldn't mind a rider tagging along for a couple of hours? My girlfriend tells me to find new MTB friends to ride with, but just approaching people at bike parks seems a bit weird!

Try joining MTB Fanatics on facebook as they are all over the place however most members seem to be based around the Portsmouth area, they have lots of days out and events held by members all over the place and are a very welcoming bunch.

@dcwhite that's great advice - have joined up and will head out for some rides.

@weeksy I've got an XC supermarathon the next day, so I'll be resting on the 2nd. Otherwise I would definitely be there!

look up Tunnel Hill Trolls, mainly XC focused with an undercurrent of lunacy (or maybe they grew up - their skip bike rides were very funny). Very sociable, based around the Farnborough sort of area.

Good stuff, hopefully see you out on the trails soon, im Bournemouth based so dont attend their weekly ride but get out to some of the bigger events, like BPW and windhill etc.
