Tom Thornley, a local club member, legend and very successful Time Trialer was involved in a head on collision with a car on Tuesday. The driver had been drinking.

He’s suffered a magnitude of potentially life changing injuries including breaking his neck, both legs in multiple places and some deep lacerations, traumas and broken bones elsewhere. It’s a miracle he’s alive but he’s obviously in a bad way. It’s harrowing to hear the ambulance quoted 2 hours ETA but somehow he managed to call his wife whilst drifting in and out of consciousness. She knew a local ex paramedic who managed to get to the scene and radio for a helicopter and save his life.

Tom also lost a friend last weekend who died whilst participating in a local TT who had been hit by another vehicle.

Thanks for reading and hope you can contribute a few £ to this cause. He’s self employed so every little will help.

Awfull +1

Although do you not need to consider not posting stuff in the public domain, wouldn't want the driver to get off on the basis that they can't get a fair trial as it's all been in the media.

Tom is local to me, I know him well. Phenomenal TTer.

The story has been reported in the local news and the fundraiser is on FB so it's a already a known item locally. The driver crashed the car in the incident so had to stay on scene, police are already well aware.

I don't ok know Tom but I've bunged him a few quid. Hope he is in the road to recovery and the DD gets the book flung at them.
