but all i could find was this
[img] [/img]

so I thought this
[img] [/img]

found this and something to cut it with
[img] [/img]

Unfortunately the drill bit broke so I couldn't finish the base mounts for the uprights
[img] [/img]

so I cleaned up the old shocks and sprayed them with undercoat ready for a top coat tomorrow
[img] [/img]

Hopefully an update tomorrow when I get a drill bit, some top coat for the shocks and a scaffold plank or similar for the seat.

Brilliant!

You should probably install the seat in your car 😉

Reminds me of a silly project years ago where I used a few turns of a car coil spring to build an adult size baby bouncer type chair for a mate.
I upholstered it in red fabric, it looked dead cool but was horribly uncomfy!

A big one of these

Last chair I did was a single seater - remarkably comfortable and less deadly that it looks.

Thought I would do a two seater this time

I wonder what A&E will be dealing with later today? Looking forward to pics of the finished item, or the inevitable gore fest prior to a ride in the ambulance.

A bit of progress but spotted a design flaw in the last shot

Compressing the springs to refit after painting the shocks and floor rests
[img] [/img]

One half assembled and mounted to the bench top / scaffold plank
[img] [/img]

Other side on and notice there is an issue with the suspension camber
[img] [/img]

Concrete blocks solve that but then MrsWCA points out the obvious...
[img] [/img]

...swap the legs around and use the wheel mounting bracket, currently on the outer edge of the shocks, to hold a support bar between the legs so they are vertical.

Sitting on it is comfortable enough but not much in the way of bouce. I guess I weigh less than the front of a BMW. Maybe a couple of people would make a difference.

We will see what it is like with the legs swapped and an anti sway bar across the middle

or, maybe you could launch yourself off - ooh, I dunno, maybe a ladder - and see if that improves the compression

Do you live in a windmill, own a flying car, and have a bird called Truly Scrumptious?

DezB - I will use alloy for the cross strut and remove the four concrete blocks to lighten it.

Chitty Chitty bang bang? No, not yet but there are plans...

See the front of the pick up? With a bit of angle grinder and vision, perhaps, just perhaps...

Anti-sway bar needs to go diagonally from each side and attach to the seat centre, rather than side to side

Balance a spare engine on your lap and it'll be just fine..

Exactly the same conclusion I came to on the drive up to work this morning - you are a genius

Assuming the shocks are not completely goosed, the nitrogen charge should be enough to hold most non-clydesdale types - take the springs back off and have a try!
