4-5 years ago my father in law brought me a lovely piece of his rhubarb plant, and stuck it in the flower bed rather than the veg plot where I asked him to put it.

It has got too big for where it is and needs moving, but have I left it too late in the year? Not had many frosts here yet, and ground is damp rather than wet, so thinking it should survive?

Should be fine I reckon, it's pretty resilient stuff. If you want to split it, just chop vertically with a spade to give a number of decent sized lumps.

Should be fine, I split one in mid February 2 years ago and both halves been very strong. Mrs nut was sick of the stuff by june this year!

Perfect time, as above but also ensure that each split bit has a good root to it.

If you can chuck some matter into the new planting hole, even better. If you mulch over, don't cover completely (in my experience).

Mmmm, rhubarb and strawberry jam 🙂

Hope so, outlaws left one out the front of our house this week and won't have time to bury it until next year.

You'll be ok as long as you get in in the ground by Feb, pop a bit of straw around it to protect from frost. Rhubarb is full hardy and it takes a fair bit to kill one off.

I managed it once (see above) 🙂
