Partners brother has brought round his desktop PC for our daughter.
He hasn't used it for a while but when we turfned it on the monitor came up with message "rgb no input signal".
I've wiggled the wires and the monitor works fine when plugged into my laptop so monitor must be ok.
Anyone got any ideas? My daughters initial excitement has turned into utter disappointment!!!
Any ideas?
Same cable used for PC and laptop test?
Could be the graphics setting on the PC is out of the range of the monitor. Some older monitors don't understand that it is out of range and display a generic error.
You would need to get on to the PC to set the resolution.
edit: or boot to safe mode as that normally enables a safe res.
Firstly, if his PC has both an onboard and a separate graphics card, check the lead is plugged into the correct one!
Secondly, if it is using a separate graphics card try removing it, cleaning out any fans or heatsinks (because now you're there why not) and re-installing it.
Check that the PC hasn't had another graphics card fitted and you're using the wrong one
Tried the 'other' port and after a bit of cable wiggling now all ok.
Cheers.
