Any suggestions for a decent fun cafe in Reykjavik? Family are there at the moment.
Cheers, Ambrose

Sorry no help on the cafe front but the ice cream is magic!

Not sure what a decent fun cafe is, but I enjoyed the various hotdogs when I was there and their own burger chain, can't remember the name. Couldn't afford anything fancier 🤣

Not been for 18 years, but back then we had an up-to-date Lonely Planet guide (are they still a thing?) which was great for locating reasonable places to eat on a budget.

Svarta Kaffid - the only place I would ever go to just to get a (bread) bowl of soup (I don't do soup, normally)

Another vote for the Laundromat, especially for breakfast.

If they can get there there's a revolving restaurant within the Perlan museum, great views of the city.
The Museum and the ice cave are good, too.

Cafe Babalu was pretty cool place with good cake when we went.

Tommi's burgers worth checking out too.

We went there. The service was glacially slow, the food was average, and was expensive even for Reykavik.

Tip's hat 🙂

Somewhat off topic - it appears the Volcano House museum has closed down 🙁

Thanks for the recommendations folks. Perlan is on the list already. I visited the Volcano House about ten years ago. It was quite an experience, the curator was 'different' I seem to remember.

+1 for soup in bread at svarta. We had a lovely dinner at Ramen Momo, and a cracking toastie, soup and coffee at Rost (please add your own umlaut).

We're back there in a month so following this thread with interest for food recommendations

Just off the phone to Mrs Ambrose and she definitely recommends Röst.
