Morning. I haven’t been on the forums fir a few years. I used to enjoy picking up some bargains and help others clear out old gear but it looks like things have changed? There used to be posts starting with FS: etc and loads of one real sting to clear outs where you can find anything from groupsets to frame sets but I haven’t found them.
The classifieds section is a little underwhelming...am I missing something?

You are missing the many other threads talking about how the classifieds aren't as good as they used to be. Its an unfortunate victim of the attempts to monetise the site. Can't blame the site owners for doing something as they need to be profitable but it has made the classifieds far less useful.

This is the thread from yesterday; https://singletrackmag.com/forum/topic/classifieds-12/ but it got closed. It does point to last months thread 🙂

The first ads are paid for and stay at the top. You need to scroll down.

Thanks. I have just read through them. I guess I am not the only one dissatisfied. eBay my only option?

Its an unfortunate victim of the attempts to monetise the site.

Point of note here, it's not an "attempt to monetise the site". The site is and (to the best of my knowledge) always has been a commercial enterprise, it is already monetised, this isn't a new phenomenon. A failed 'attempt' would result in the closure of the site and the loss of a dozen jobs. You might as well argue that Tesco sticking 5p onto the price of milk is an attempt to monetise the store.

I guess I am not the only one dissatisfied.

You're dissatisfied with a free service that you haven't looked at in years?

@luthersboots
Hey, welcome back.

You can search by category on the classifieds too, its a little clunky on my mobile though.

There is still some good stuff to be had but I concede I do miss the bootfair style of the old one.😁

Pinkbike has an excellent buy/sell section, if you don't fancy eBay.

Shame they threw the baby out with the bathwater here.

Nothing wrong with charging for promoted adverts, but the new UI is clunky and has lost the "bike jumble" USP of the old classifieds.

Just in case nobody's mentioned this before.

Having done the same over the last couple of years, i.e. coming back after a layoff on visiting, i'd say that doing anything with the classifieds is a bit of wasted effort, too many fall outs last time, and realistically, my first port of call is facebook marketplace, to find anything local, then the myriad of facebook selling groups, then pinkbike.
