You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
After 15 years working in front office IT investment banking, I have been let go. It is something I have been looking for, but now I need to think about the future and what I am going to do. My love affair with investment banking faded a while ago, and I don't enjoy doing IT development either, so thinking alternative options. I really would like to go back and do an MSc in a totally different area. Chem Engineering or another engineering based profession, but am worried that at 43 I will potentially use up my redundancy money retraining only to find that I cannot secure a role post qual.
Anyone else done something similar and if so how did it pan out?
You will likely have to work until your 70 ... 3yrs in uni and maybe 5yrs getting some experience still leaves you with almost 20yrs in a new role. Go for it I say ... good luck.
I've been looking into MSc courses myself and I don't think you can just jump on any old course you have no previous experience in, unless you have practical experience. You may have to do another undergraduate course prior to enrolling in the MSc
