My son is trying to reset my old iPhone 5 but every time he selects 'Erase All Content and Settings', it prompts him for my Apple ID password.
I then enter the password (which I have verified by logging in and out both on my Mac desktop, and my other iPhone), but for some reason, it just says'Verification Failed' and 'There was an error connecting to iCloud'.
Any idea why this is happening? How can we get the thing completely reset?
Plug it into a computer and do it through iTunes?
I reset to factory settings on an iPhone 6 via iTunes having experienced the same issues as you OP.
