Had a bit of an incident driving home tonight with a motorbike. His fault which he begrudgingly admitted, witness who agreed.

A few scuffs on my car but hard to see amongst the others, a couple of scrapes on his bike where he dropped it and he seemed to be limping a little.

I’m not bothered about claiming for the very minor damage to my car and he didn’t seem particularly interested in a claim. Just wondering if I should tell my insurance company in case he changes his mind and tried to make a claim,

I had similar (even less serious) and told insurance company. Just in case.

Bad move.

Had to declare it every time I reissued for the next 6 years!

No work was done or anything. Nothing at all. The touching of bumpers wasn't even my fault...

I just called as an fyi for them.

Learnt my lesson from that!

It's illegal if you don't report the accident to the police. It also will likely invalidate the terms of your insurance if you don't tell your insurance folk. If no one knows, you'd probably get away with it but you've stuck it on social media. Uh oh.

In this case, yes, because there was an injured party. The police are not interested otherwise.

Only if you don't comply with your obligations at the scene
