The battery on my iphone 6s isn't as good as it was. I like the phone and don't want to replace it.

Have you replaced the battery? Did you use the Apple service or just go to one of those phone shops that does repairs and sells used phones?

Do they do it while you wait or do you have to send it away?

In what way not as good?  Mrs K's 6s was going from 80 -20% in a flash, and sometime turned off randomly.  When she phoned for the battery change Apple told her she could have it for free - maybe worth trying that first - which she did and received a new battery no further issues with the phone.

Battery change while she waited - or actually while she went shopping - in 90 mins at an Apple store.

Yup.  There was a recall too.

Yep Mrs PP had her 6 done for £25 at Apple in Meadowhall.

No need to go aftermarket, Apple have killed third party replacements stone dead.

The latest iOS update gives a performance indicator of the battery, I was wondering about the battery in my three year old iP6+, but it’s apparently still 90% efficiency!

Had a new screen and battery in my iphone 6 from a local shop.

It took about 15 mins and cost £60. The screen was obviously better but the battery seemed to speed the phone up surprisingly.

Still a drag on bad sites(stw, local rags) obz.
