Need a new battery for my mid-2012 13" Apple MBP, but bemused by the colossal range of options. Genuine Apple price is extortionate, but non-genuine replacements range from about 20 quid on eBay through to around £100 for a Newertech or Duracell-branded one, with stuff at pretty much every price-point in between.
It's all quite confusing, particularly when it comes to working out if there's a binary choice between branded and expensive batteries and non-branded, cheapo ones.
Any recommendations for an affordable but decent quality battery? If I buy a 25 quid one off eBay will I die along with everyone else within a five-mile radius.
I can't believe STW has let me down - I blame the forum update.
Surely someone must have some experience-based advice on buying MacBook batteries before I get the wrong one and blow my house to pieces...
Sorry can't help but i might need one too...
Has anyone used these guys? I'm thinking the NewerTech battery would be the best money-no-object option, but I'm reluctant to splash nigh on 100 quid on a five-year-old computer.
They claim:
'These batteries are OEM, this means they are from the exact licensed manufacturer that Apple use to manufacture the original batteries, they have the exact same specification and work as you would expect form an original Apple battery.'</p>
Not sure I necessarily believe that, but there's a 12-month warranty.
