You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
So on the third screen after the first broke when I dropped it (my fault), second died after 2 weeks, replacement screen is crashing from the right side even after zero impacts and being careful! The camera is super slow to work, only pluses are screen size and battery life.
So £200 to replace it with what? Need big screen and decent battery life, nice Cassandra would be ace, main thing is better glass than the 🐼 glass in this one!!
Had my iPhone se for 5 years, dropped it loads, no damage!
There were some cracking deals on the Xioami site around Black Friday, including the 10T Lite 5G for £179 iirc, sort of regretting not considering it more given how prices look to shoot up from January. Few deals on their site this week, but get scouring hotukdeals.
google pay/nfc would be great too
I gave an Oppo a9 which I'm happy with. Lots of storage without needing a memory card and battery life is excellent.
Do you keep your phone in any kind of case?
My Moto G6 is still going strong, I've had it since Feb '19 and dropped it loads. It came with one of those gel cases which seems to have really helped.
I quite like the look of the Motorola Moto G pro for when the G6 expires, think they're just over £200.
I paid £199 for the new Moto G 5G about six weeks ago. Fantastic thing and it comes with a gel case in the box.😀
@chrispoffer
in the gel case it came with, this is just cracking from the mid line on the right side, like the replacement screen is not in right and flexing
Ah, that's a bit rubbish. Time for a new phone then if you can't get the place who fitted the screen to replace it?
Must be a modern Motorola screens thing.
Between us we have had G3s each -g6s each and g7 each all with no issues.
Wife has a Motorola one macro and the screen failed in her pocket. Looked like a bullet shot on the screen.
Replaced the screen it lasted a few days before cracking left to right.
My g8 has cracked across a corner this week
May be our last Motorola's.
My G7 power screen is cracked after I dropped it. In a gel case and screen protector on it. First phone screen I've cracked. Must be a Motorola thing which is a shame as it's a great phone otherwise.
Out of interest, how/where are you getting your screen changed? It's not easy to do on the G7 power, you have to remove glued in batteries and circuit boards to get to it. The YouTube vids I've watched make changing it look a right faff!
I picked up a Samsung A21 for my dad over the weekend, he seems happy with it for £160 odd.
hooli, make sure you get your father a case and screen protector for that phone. The screens are not tough.
Not been impressed with my work G7 power, charger port failed on the first one fairly quickly. It's a work phone and they can never be bothered to warranty anything, so I put a new charger port in it.
The screen cracked pretty easily in the gel case with screen protector.
Like others, it's the first screen I've cracked since I drop kicked one of those unbreakable Nokia's.
I've got another G7 in one of those leather cases with gel back and it's surviving but bulky as hell.
I've had both a work and personal smart phone for about ten years. Have never broken a screen.
Bought a G8 Power, and cracked the screen within 2 weeks (in supplied case and with screen protector).
Luckily it is still useable, but if it worsens I will also look to sell on and replace rather than repair.
Mrs Zips Xiaomi 10T lite is brilliant. Was on 20 % this morning. It took 33 minutes to charge to 100%. Considering the phone lasts for 3 days that's bloody amazing.
The camera is great as well.
Wish I'd bought one in the sale.
hooli, make sure you get your father a case and screen protector for that phone. The screens are not tough.
We did thanks, we got him one of those leather wallet cases. Besides, he is nearly 80 so it will spend most of its time turned off on the table next to the front door or locked in the car when he is out 😉
Nokia 7.2 is nice - decent camera, plain Android One, a couple of years of updates and security patches. Motorola aren't famous for updates whereas HMD Global (owners of Nokia now) are good with the updates.
My in-laws have both got a Nokia 7.1 - they are solid, robust-feeling phones.
£169 here and Amazon.
We went with am ulefone armor 7e
The interface is not that intuitive and it misses a few of the gesture controls.
But it's ruggidized , ip68 and the camera is ultra responsive and ultra crisp 199.99 off Amazon.
Hopefully toddler proof.....not that she habitually gets it but pulls it out of mum's pocket and drops it etc.
Probably need another one soon. My Motorola g8 is dying at 6months old..... If the screen hadn't cracked I'd be returning it.
The down volume buttons become unresponsive , the cameras slower than shit and has poor focus now.....used to be good .
This site frequently jams up but that may be a function of the site thanthe phone
According to HotUKDeals, there's another sale at Xioami starting any moment.
Can anyone explain the Xiaomi range to me? Whats the difference between a pro and a lite?
I want something the same size as my Mi A2 Lite with the fast charging and Night Mode camera of Mrs Zip's Mi 10 t lite.It must have 2 sims and be 128gb .
If you want fast charging I've just bought a Realme 7 Pro and 0-100% of the 4500mah battery takes 34 minutes using their fancy charger.
2 sims, SD card, 128gb, glass screen protector pre-fitted and case in the box
£220 on Amazon.
It was supposed to be a stopgap whilst my note 9 went for warranty repair but I think I'll keep it and get rid of the Samsung when it gets back.
