I've got a lightweight ripstop shell jacket I use for riding, but last time out had a small crash and put an 'L' shaped tear in the left elbow a couple of cm in both directions.

Can this stuff be sewn repaired, or should I look at using a stick on patch repair?

My experience - a patch of McNett Tenacious tape both sides - applied correctly lasts life of garment.

Or use spinnaker repair tape - will come in a range of colours so should be able to get a near match/complimentary colour.

i've used that sugru moldable glue stuff, worked pretty well

Backed the tear on one side with tape, then on the other marked out the tear with masking tape so I got a thin L shape around the tear, rubbed the sugru on and then peeled off the tape after 20 minutes. Made a nice neat repair

+1

Cheap, waterproof, and the fabric around it will tear before the tape does.

Goretex do a repair tape, but it’s only in black, I think. There’s tent repair tape, which I think is broadly similar to spinnaker tape.
There’s always the classic duct tape...

Thanks all. I had some tenacious tape in the cupboard so stuck some on that from the inside and has fixed it nicely.
