Last weekend we mounted my brothers camera on my daughters helmet to ride up Cragg Vale for le tour. The crowds were great and gave her loads of encouragement. However when we got back and tried to play the file it wouldn't play. It recognises the file but won't play it.
He had forgotten the memory card and used the one from his phone. Don't know if this would cause any problems.
Is there any way to repair or recover this file?
VLC plays pretty much anything, pretty sure it can repair certain files. Worth a look.
+1 VLC. You can try to convert the file with Handbrake (google it) to something a bit more friendly too. It's free and easy to use.
The in-camera memory is usually quite small, and probably won't hold any significant length of video. So the file may have been overwritten or cut short. How does the file size compare with other videos of the same duration? Sorry to bring bad news, but understanding the problem help you to recover at least some of the footage.
Greybeard, he was using the memory card from his phone, not the camera's internal memory.
Ok, VCL won't play it and Handbrake can't see it. Looks like this has had it. Thanks for the replies chaps.
So he was, apologies for that. Brain not reading the words as written, must take more care!Greybeard, he was using the memory card from his phone, not the camera's internal memory.
