I'd like to repair an old Planet X rear light, where the battery has puffed up and become quite spongy. And also doesn't seem to hold much charge, surprisingly! I'm sure I paid about £1.99 for it years ago and a new battery will be more than that, but I'd like to keep it out of landfill. Googling the codes on the battery brings up loads of LiPo options which apparently need very specific chargers. Not sure if the light circuit has the appropriate charger, or if this is likely to be a Lithium ion cell. Anyone got any advice for me please!
Cheers!

Bingo.

Got to buy a box of 1000 pieces though.
So, it looks like your original battery is LiPo.
What specification is the existing charger?
Or
Thanks! The 503030 bit just means 5mm thick, 30mm x 30mm size. The charger is just a USB socket on the side of the light. I guess the circuit in the light could be what controls the charging via USB? Otherwise I suspect the battery is more likely to be LiIon.
Google 'Li-Polymer 503030' and you should see a few on eBay or Amazon. - Double check the sellers feedback first to make sure you are buying a genuine new and unused one. Then just unsolder the original one and replace with the new one. Leaving the original protection circuit still on the battery.
As for the old one, discharge the battery first (if it is not already dead) and safely dispose of it at the local refuse centre as they should have a place for batteries.
Any problems, give me a shout.
